The most anticipated annual event, the Selangor International Business Summit, continues to host global industry leaders by observing the new norms.

SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The most anticipated annual business event, the Selangor International Business Summit 2020, was launched here today by the YAB Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari, the Chief Minister of Selangor, which runs from 14 October to 17 October, hence making it the first state-led virtual platform to inspire the new ways of doing business.  

Offering borderless opportunities, Virtual SIBS is bringing together global brands and industry players from around the world to help business players reset and reboot while providing valuable knowledge-sharing, networking and business matching for all trade visitors. 

"These new norms have allowed us to reflect and relook at our strategies and plans in making SIBS as the must-attend-summit in the region.  For example, although we are not able to meet face to face, the use of technology has enabled us to continue our engagement and communications with larger business communities and potential partners and stakeholders," said Dato' Teng Chang Khim, Executive Councillor, State Government of Selangor.  

Virtual SIBS2020 will continue to have the three main components of the summit; Selangor International Expo, Selangor ASEAN Business Conference and Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention. The four-day of engaging and informative online sessions includes virtual expositions, webinars, live conference, online networking and business matching opportunities.  

Selangor continues to take on the role of a regional economic powerhouse despite the current challenges and less encouraging economic outlook, with a contribution of over 24 per cent to Malaysia’s GDP on an annual basis. 

Dato' Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor said, "Over the years, this administration has braved strong winds, and risen to the challenges to make Selangor the preferred destination to invest and do business in the region. Hence, the COVID -19 pandemic is just another challenge that we have to go through along the way and, Insya Allah, we will be able to make it, with the strong support from everyone,"

Offering a bigger and longer access up until October 2021, Virtual SIBS will enable you to tap into various opportunities that were originally developed for an onsite experience, in a more convenient way, where everyone can access from the comfort of their own home," he added. 

The Virtual SIBS2020 will continue until 2021, hence allowing entrepreneurs to continue to utilise the platform after the four days of the physical event. SIBS 2021 is scheduled to return on 7-10 October 2021 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
