BANK ISLAM EMBRACES SAP SUCCESSFACTORS TO BRING HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT (HCM) TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Monday 01/03/2021

KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's biggest standalone Islamic bank, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, has embraced SAP SuccessFactors to bring its human capital management (HCM) efforts to the next level while improving employee productivity in the 'new norm'.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Muazzam Mohamed, said, "Bank Islam is a firm believer of technology and how digital transformation yields greater productivity and operational efficiencies. With a network of 144 branches and more than 900 self-service terminals nationwide, the Bank's goal is to attract development and retain the best people to benefit stakeholders and customers. The workforce of today expects a different experience at work. When it comes to technology, the workforce expects to work as they live, intuitively, in the moment and in real-time. Bank Islam is committed to investing in the best technologies to help employees realise their fullest potential".

SAP SuccessFactors is a cloud-based HCM solution world-renowned for streamlining processes, winning at the recruitment and retention game, training and re-skilling the workforce, and capitalising on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.

"With the SAP SuccessFactors cloud-based solution, it empowers the Bank to use the various functions that align with business priorities and get immediate commercial value. The solution's seamless, mobile-friendly user experiences and social collaboration capabilities mean that employees can access information anywhere, anytime. This truly global HR solution, renowned for being one of the best in the world, empowers our users to access information in a single consolidated view. What's more, it will be instrumental in attracting, engaging and selecting candidates while retaining and developing existing talent," said Mohd Muazzam.

As the solution is cloud-based, a cloud risk assessment exercise was performed by an independent world-renowned multinational professional services network as part of Bank Negara Malaysia's RMiT (risk management in technology) policy. It was subsequently approved, resulting in Bank Islam managing HR operations through the 'Employee Central' suite of web-based applications.

Meanwhile, SAP Malaysia Managing Director, Hong Kok Cheong, said that the solution accommodates changing workforce structure better than traditional, on-premise software because the solution is cloud-based. Employee Central serves as the HR system of record uniting functions such as payroll and learning management.

Bank Islam is also in the process of implementing the SAP SuccessFactors Performance and Goals Management module. Once completed, employees would be able to keep managers updated on activities they are working on, share real-time feedback with peers while capturing a live summary of achievements.

In turn, managers can also access activities, achievements, and feedback to hold more effective performance check-ins with employees, even virtually, as the process can be conducted online anytime, anywhere.

Bank Islam is also implementing the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Module designed to give a competitive edge in sourcing, engaging and hiring the right talent for the Bank.

With line-of-site analytics to provide intelligence and guidance throughout the process, the module features a mobile-first career site by delivering a personalised experience on any device and embed social engagement for candidates' feedback anywhere to create a welcoming and dynamic experience.

"When companies transform their HCM practices and connect their people to the corporate purpose, they can respond with agility to challenges that they face in a secure cloud environment," said Hong.

"SAP is honoured to be part of Bank Islam's transformational journey – the first Islamic Bank in Malaysia to embrace our world-renowned solution – and which will ultimately take Islamic banking operations to the next level," concluded Hong.
