In the #KitaJagaKita community spirit of Raya, these programmes were aimed at providing much-needed support to children’s homes that continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- CIMB Group’s corporate social responsibility arm, CIMB Foundation (“the Foundation”), spread some festive cheer over the Ramadan and Hari Raya period through a Baju Raya programme to benefit 250 underprivileged children from 9 children’s homes. In the #KitaJagaKita community spirit of Raya, this programme was aimed at providing much-needed support to children’s homes who continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and ease their financial burdens in preparing for their respective celebrations.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, CIMB Foundation, which usually brings a group of underprivileged children shopping for Raya clothes every year to look their best for the festive celebrations, decided to provide new Raya clothes and other goodies by sending them directly to the homes instead. These include 3 homes in Selangor, 1 home in Kuala Lumpur and 5 homes in Melaka, such as Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Kami in Kuala Lumpur, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Sabak Bernam Selangor, and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Islam Daerah Jasin in Melaka.
Rafe Haneef, Chief Sustainability Officer of CIMB Group and Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Foundation, said “In line with CIMB Foundation’s key impact pillar of Health & Community Well-being, we are happy to spread some Hari Raya cheer to the underprivileged through the provision of Baju Raya and other assistance. We hope our contributions will help ease their burdens during this period. We wish them, and all who are celebrating, a wonderful Hari Raya Aidilfitri.”
Besides this initiative, CIMB Foundation also provided 500 portions of bubur lambuk to the families at PPR Lembah Subang 1 as an added treat while conducting their 20/20 Perfect Vision Programme, an eye screening programme for children in underserved communities in collaboration with Spectruck, a one-stop mobile optical shop. Through this programme, CIMB Foundation has facilitated the eyesight screening of around 1,000 children and provided free eyeglasses to more than 300 children in the area.
