AUTOMATION VALUE CHAIN DIRECTORY SPEED UP TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR INDUSTRY

Friday 28/05/2021

PETALING JAYA, May 28 (Bernama) -- A recent launch of Automation Value Chain Directory by Machinery and Equipment Productivity Nexus (MEPN) and Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) will speed up technical assistance for the industry players and enable them to improve productivity and sales through business matching with the available automation products and services offered by the technology providers in Malaysia.

The first of its kind directory in Malaysia is a collaboration between MPC and The Malaysia Automation Technology Association (MATA) to help and serve the wider interests of the Malaysian manufacturing industries.

According to President of MATA, Mr Tiong Kee Hock, dependency on low-skilled foreign labour has always been a double-edged sword, since the lower cost of labour is weighed against low labour productivity, inconsistent product quality and poor production efficiency.

Hence, the Government has introduced great initiatives to encourage manufacturers to adopt automation as the most direct means of reducing dependency on low-skilled foreign labour.

“In the budget 2021 announcement, one of the initiatives by the Government to ensure business continuity involves tax relief and matching grants for investment in mechanisation and automation. We believe the available schemes allocated for digitalisation and automation will encourage companies to embrace automation and digitalisation in their operations. We hope that the directory provides an overview of the availability of technology and also the capabilities of our local players,” he added.

Director General of MPC, Dato’ Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman said Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) believes strongly in the capabilities and potential of our homegrown M&E companies to be world-class and are working hard to support the automation-related industries to improve their productivity through process, technology, and talent. Concented efforts from all parties will contribute to an increase of 30% of productivity and 13% to 35% of growth of high skilled workers in manufacturing sector by 2025 as targeted in Industry4Wrd Policy.   The directory can be downloaded via www.wayup.my.
