PUTRAJAYA, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) plans to strengthen its position as a knowledge capital by getting Malaysia through four cities (Kuala Lumpur, Penang (Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau), Kuching (Sarawak Convention Bureau) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah Tourism Board) to join the Hybrid City Alliance – a grouping which offers international event organisers solutions when organising multiple city hub events. The Hybrid City Alliance was launched in December of 2020 by the Hague Convention Bureau, Ottawa Tourism Business Events, Prague Convention Bureau, and Geneva Convention Bureau. The purpose of joining the alliance is to be part of the global community in supporting event organisers that need hybrid connections for the advancement of knowledge and community development. “MyCEB is thrilled to join the like-minded global convention bureaus in the Hybrid City Alliance, to work as a team for the recovery of the meetings industry, share our passion and resources and actively collaborate to attract more business events in our city and the region. With this new international alliance, Malaysia’s business events industry is even more prepared to advance feasible digital solutions which will resonates well with our Malaysia Business Events Strategic Marketing Plan 2021-2030,” said Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB. The objective of the Hybrid City Alliance is to create a value proposition to clients that supports them in the delivery of hybrid events regionally and internationally. By having an alliance of convention bureaus in place, the aim is to give event planners a professional way to connect relevant cities together as staging posts for their hybrid events. “The combined knowledge and experience of the member cities remove barriers, offers solutions and inspires the creation of unparalleled delegate experiences. We are delighted to have Penang, Sarawak and Sabah joining the Alliance and giving commitment to this advancement,” Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani added. “Hybrid City Alliance has been launched to seek mutual cooperation and innovative solutions among convention bureaus across the world to offer event professionals easy way to organize multi-city hybrid meetings more effectively. Therefore, we are pleased to see a still rising interest to join the initiative from various destinations and are very happy to welcome on board four Malaysian cities that decided to enhance the Hybrid City Alliance network that already spans across six continents. We are looking forward to our joint collaboration and hope it will help event organizers not only from the region of South East Asia to access new possibilities for their hybrid meetings worldwide,” concludes Hana Krejbichová, Communications & Marketing Co-Chair, Hybrid City Alliance. By becoming a member of the Hybrid City Alliance, Malaysia seeks to promote its appeal in the area of business events and introduce local business events industry players to more international opportunities.
