CYBERJAYA, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) is committed to assist the industry through the challenge of recovering from the two months halt to operate due to the lockdown. The recent announcement to reopen key economic sectors is an important relief for the industry, but should be administered with utmost caution as we are still battling with the pandemic and protecting the lives of Malaysians.

It is clear that vaccination is an important agenda for the continuation of the industry to operate, and a high level of vaccination would significantly reduce the need for further full lockdowns in the future. MARii urges business owners to contact the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to discuss options for inoculating their workers through the Public-Private Partnership Industrial Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PIKAS).

While the lockdowns in the past years have demonstrated our resilience as an industry, it also revealed opportunities for improvement - especially in the areas of digitalisation, automation and connected work. It is vital that industry players embrace and rethink their operational strategies so that we do not fall victim to future disruptions where physical operations are compromised.

To this end, MARii is committed to assist the industry towards digitalising their operations, enhance engineering capabilities and provide solutions that increase workability of certain portions their operations through cloud-based operations.

Since 2015, MARii (formerly known as MAI) has developed in-house Industry 4.0 technologies for the deployment of local players.

These technologies range from a wide array of applications to digitalise the entire chain of activities within the industry. These include computer aided design (CAD) leasing and training (through Design Engineering Programme - DEP), additive manufacturing, autonomous robotics, computer simulations, virtual reality, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and many more.

To expedite technology penetration within businesses, a myriad of human capital programmes are available to both business owner and their employees at all levels - covering growth mindset, lean production, smart manufacturing, digital marketing training, workshop transformation, and other technology areas. MARii also is an assessment body for the Industry4WRD Readiness Assessment (Industry4WRD-RA), a comprehensive programme to help firms assess their capabilities and readiness to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies and processes.

To accelerate the digitalisation of business operations, MARii offers numerous platforms to deploy data driven management and operations within businesses, such as the recently announced MARii Enterprise Resource Planning (MARii ERP), high performance cloud computing, and many other digital platforms that can be customised to the needs of the industry.

The key takeaway is that industry players can leverage on the various technologies developed by MARii to optimise its resources - ensuring that its manpower, infrastructure and equipment work to add value to their production, and not wasted on tedious non-value-added activities that can now be eliminated by through digitalisation.
