Thursday 02/09/2021

PETALING JAYA, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- MyReskill IoT programme organised by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) can contribute to better productivity through higher adoption of technology among industry players.

Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI), YBhg. Dato’ Lokman Hakim Ali highlighted “The adoption and use of technology in various economic sectors is expected to contribute to 30 percent uplift in productivity by 2030”.

According to Dato’ Lokman, technological adoption requires more high-skilled talent to be in the labour market. Therefore, MyReskill IoT programme will encourage and support the upskilling and reskilling of the current workforce to meet the current and future needs of the industry.

“MyReskill IoT programme is also vital for boosting productivity at enterprise, sectoral and national levels”, he added during the virtual launch of MyReskill IoT Programme today.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman, Director General of MPC, “The role of technological innovation in improving productivity has been accepted at global level”.

“As reported in the recently launched OECD Economic Survey Malaysia 2021, the use of technology among businesses needs further boost to drive productivity growth”, Dato’ Latif said.

Therefore, he said that effort in achieving a greater level of digitalisation needs to be doubled towards better productivity.

Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) has launched the MyReskill IoT Programme today under the theme “Boosting Productivity through Digitalisation”.

This launching event also features presentation on proof-of-concept by Swift Bridge Technolgies Sdn. Bhd. The application of IoT has enabled them to digitalise the task that has previously been carried out manually and monitor the dashboard remotely. As a result, the company has achieved cost savings up to RM300,000.00 which subsequently has improved its operational efficiency (OEE) by 33 percent and increased their productivity dramatically.

MyReskill IoT programme will take participants through a five half-day virtual workshop where they will get the opportunity to learn IoT and advanced technical knowledge. Subsequently, participants will have a week to develop proof-of-concept projects for their organisations with support from MPC, technology centres and technology partners.
