PUTRAJAYA, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Sustainable Energy Authority Development (SEDA) Malaysia officially launched its 10th Anniversary celebration via online ceremony officiated by SEDA Malaysia’s Chairman, YB Tuan Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
 
The Authority, which was established in 2011 achieved its first decade of operation on 1st September this year. As a statutory body under the Ministry of Natural Energy and Resources (KeTSA), SEDA Malaysia is responsible for the development of the sustainable energy industry in Malaysia.
 
The launching ceremony was also co-launched with the Sustainable Energy Awareness Poster and Short Video Challenge, a collaboration programme with Multimedia University (MMU) as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration. The guests of honour for the event were MMU President & Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, SEDA Authority Members, Management Committee of MMU, and SEDA Malaysia CEO.
 
YB Tuan Lukanisman Awang mentioned in his opening remark that the milestone reached by the Authority was due to the combined effort from the various ministries, government agencies, international bodies, industry players, and public.
 
He also added that he wished the programmes such as the Sustainable Energy Awareness Poster and Short Video Challenge would convey the message to the youth on the importance of science and technology in everyday life.
 
“I hope via this session, it will help to spark interest among young participants who will be our future leaders to venture in the area of sustainable energy,” said YB Tuan Lukanisman.
 
The Sustainable Energy Awareness Poster and Short Video Challenge aims to increase the awareness of sustainable energy amongst the youngsters and public. The use of creativity in delivering the intended messages through posters and video will attract students to join in. The collaboration came about as SEDA Malaysia is the Authority in the subject matter while MMU has the expertise in creative content production. In conjunction with the 10th Anniversary celebration, SEDA Malaysia has planned various programmes and activities to commemorate the special occasion for the Authority. Among the programmes that are currently running are the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives called ‘Tautan Kasih’, which aimed to assist several groups of people such as those affected by the pandemic, COVID-19 frontliners, as well as selected B40 communities nationwide, social media contests, webinars, and many others.
