Concurrent Replication of Event at Expo 2020 Dubai Soon KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- With climate agenda re-emerging from the shadows of the pandemic over the last couple of weeks, the 12
th International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2021), continues to steer the green economy with renewed focus on climate change and green technology with more than 13,000 registered global visitors, over 80 conferences as well as several business leads, Memorandum of Understandings and Memorandum of Cooperation worth RM1.97 billion in potential investment value signed to date.
Organised by the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) and co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Centre (MGTC), IGEM 2021, the region’s largest trade event for green technologies and eco-solutions which is currently at its halfway mark, anticipates this momentum to gain traction, with added impetus following the recent unveiling of the 12

Minister of Environment and Water, Yang Berhormat Dato' Sri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said, “Malaysia's commitment to be a carbon-neutral country as early as 2050 has the potential to attract foreign investment and show the country's commitment in tackling climate change. Low-carbon investment and green technology would be able to support the country’s sustainable development agenda, as well as promote Malaysia as a green investment hub.”
Having attracted global green players to IGEM 2021 virtually, KASA will now concurrently take the event to the Expo 2020 Dubai’s Malaysia Pavilion, themed “Energising Sustainability” to further foster green trade and business partnerships. The Ministry will organise several initiatives at the Expo between 17
th October and 6
th November to highlight the country’s efforts in building a post-pandemic Resilient Malaysia through the incorporation of technological solutions that will tackle climate change.
The Ministry will be engaging in multiple bilateral meetings and delegation visits with other South East Asia countries to strengthen economic ties, explore new markets and prospects as well as increase regional cooperation in ensuring a low carbon future for the region. Additionally, KASA will also be participating in two Climate Change Conversations sessions, one on Global Sustainable Infrastructure and another with Global Mayors, to uncover best practices, opportunities and challenges in developing climate resilient and sustainable infrastructure while gaining insights on developing carbon reduction strategies from the leaders of the top smart and low carbon cities in the world.
Chief Executive Officer of MGTC, Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor said, “With the reinvigorated green agenda focus in the 12
th Malaysia Plan, we are more determined in continuing our efforts to redefine sustainability by supporting the country’s green initiatives during these unprecedented times through IGEM as well as through our participation at Expo 2020 Dubai, which I am certain will only further catalyse Malaysia’s thriving green economy.”
