CYBERJAYA, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL) would like to inform the appointment of Datuk Mohd Nizom bin Sairi, Chief Executive Officer / Director General of Inland Revenue as the Chairman of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators for the 2021-2024 term with effect from 12 November 2021.

CATA is an international tax organisation consisting of tax administrators from 47 Commonwealth countries. CATA is the largest association of tax administrations in the world based on its membership. CATA’s main objective is to assist member countries in achieving excellence in all aspects of tax administration. CATA has been instrumental in promoting modernisation of tax administration and in the adoption of efficiency-enhancing tax policies, procedures and processes within the Commonwealth with particular emphasis on developing countries. Malaysia is the 15^th Chairman of CATA since its inception in 1979.

This appointment is an acknowledgment by the member countries to Malaysia and HASiL specifically, for the contribution in the development and modernisation of the current tax system. Malaysia is seen capable to bring this association into the next phase in tackling international tax issues which are gaining attention at the global front. This appointment also recognises the significance of Malaysia’s opinion in the international arena.
