MALAYSIA TRULY ASIA AEROMEET RETURNS VIRTUALLY

Tuesday 16/11/2021

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Truly Asia AEROMEET 2021 has returned once again since its last appearance back in 2014. Organised by Tourism Malaysia, for this time it will be held fully virtual through Malaysia Truly Asia AEROMEET 2021 platform starting 16-18 November 2021.

A total of 102 Malaysian organisations are taking part throughout the event and promoting their products and services, comprising 50 tour operators, three (3) online travel agencies, 35 hoteliers, six (6) state tourism boards, and eight (8) tourism associations.

Malaysia Truly Asia AEROMEET 2021 is a platform for industry players to have business-to-business (B2B) sessions with the buyers and media from the regions of the Americas, Europe and Oceania (AERO) on the latest tourism development, events, and business opportunities.

The event offers different sessions for participants to partake in, such as seminars, presentations, and product updates by the local tourism industry players. Sessions are also separated according to regions: Americas, Europe, and Oceania.

Through this event, Tourism Malaysia is looking forward to discussing possible collaborations and partnerships by leveraging the B2B spectrum and restoring the confidence among international travel agencies to promote and sell Malaysia’s tourist attractions to the locals in anticipation of border reopening.

Following the anticipation, Dato’ Haji Zainuddin Abdul Wahab, the Director-General of Tourism Malaysia highlights the efficiency of Malaysia’s vaccination rollout: “We are proud to announce that more than 95% of our adult population have completed their vaccination. Meanwhile, more than 79% of our adolescents are fully vaccinated nationwide.”

“COVID-19 will soon be treated as endemic and it is time for us to accept that the virus is here to stay and we must learn to live with it. In this regard, we have to be steadfast in our strategy and no longer wait for this outbreak to be over,” adds Dato’ Haji Zainuddin.

The government has launched its first international travel bubble with Langkawi as the pilot destination, where fully-vaccinated international tourists are welcome starting 15 November 2021. Following that, the government has also announced the preparation of a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Singapore’s Changi Airport which will commence on 29 November 2021. Malaysia aims to reopen its international borders by 1 January 2022.
