FINAL CALL FOR NATIONAL ENERGY AWARDS 2022 ENTRIES

Monday 07/02/2022

20 Awards for Innovative Sustainability Projects & Initiatives on Offer

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- To encourage the adoption of the sustainable energy practises agenda, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) would like to announce the final call for submissions to participate in the National Energy Award (NEA) 2022, the country’s premier accolade for sustainable energy game-changers. Since the inaugural NEA in 2018, the Awards have recognised close to 100 organisations at the forefront of growing the nation’s sustainable energy sector.

This year’s NEA will see a total of 20 awards on offer across 3 categories open to eligible Malaysian residences, companies, organisations including institutions of higher learning, which have undertaken renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy management and energy performance contracting projects or initiatives, with two new awards for residential green buildings and zero energy buildings on offer. A dedicated category has also been created to recognise the efforts of financial institution in sustainable energy financing.

The organisation of NEA 2022 continues to provide an important avenue to support the Government’s strategic efforts to further increase public awareness and industry participation in sustainable energy initiatives and is aligned with the RMK 12’s strategic focus on “Advancing Green Growth”.

Highlighting the significance and relevance of the NEA, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said, “The impact of climate change has reached unprecedented levels. Today, more than ever we need sustainable energy technologies and solutions that can mitigate climate uncertainties and reduce the impacts to the environment. KeTSA believes that our local efforts and talents need to be recognised and rewarded to drive greater adoption of sustainable energy solutions in the country.”

“Given NEA's success in showcasing the best practices of sustainable energy in Malaysia, I urge all eligible to participate and share your success story with a wider audience. In many ways, platforms such as NEA elevate Malaysia's competitiveness and presence in the global sustainable energy landscape, now and for years to come,” he concluded.

Over the past four years, NEA has seen increasing participation from Malaysia’s stakeholders with over 645 organisations submitting entries and competing for cash prizes worth RM 40,000.00 for award winners with runners-up standing to win RM 15,000.00. Additionally, NEA winners stand a chance to represent Malaysia at the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA).

All submissions for NEA 2022 must be received before 25 February 2022. For further information, please visit www.nationalenergyawards.com.my.
