  NANOMALAYSIA BERHAD LAUNCHES ANTI-CORRUPTION HANDBOOK

Friday 18/02/2022

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- NanoMalaysia Berhad Group of Companies (NMB) today launched their Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2021 – 2025 handbook, which reflects efforts in preventing any corruption from occurring in NMB’s administrative services.

OACP is a mandatory initiative under the National Anti-Corruption Plan, which required ministries, agencies and government-linked companies to identify issues of corruption, governance and integrity – followed by taking preventative measures to monitor the successful implementation of the OACP.

It was reported in the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2021, Malaysia ranked 62 out of 180 countries when it came to public sector corruption.

As an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), NMB acts as a business entity entrusted with nanotechnology commercialisation and industrialisation activities through a venture builder model. It is also the fifth agency under MOSTI to release the OACP – which was facilitated by Institut Integrity Malaysia (INTEGRITI) and will serve as a guideline for management and employees in ensuring an efficient, transparent, clean, and integrity-filled system is in place.

NMB Group Chairman, Prof Emeritus Dato’ Ir Dr Mohamad Zawawi bin Ismail said corruption and national values are challenged when bribe takers do not distinguish between good and bad, and do not know about trust and responsibility.

“Corruption and bribery can lead to missed business opportunities as well as badly damage a company’s reputation and in the long run, impede progress and development. That goes against NMB’s core values and mission of growing the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) landscape and Malaysia becoming a high-income nation by 2025.”

Further, NMB Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Rezal Khairi Ahmad states this handbook will be a useful resource for all to recognise the need for developing and implementing robust anti-corruption ethics and compliance programmes.

In addressing NMB employees, he added: “I shall ensure this handbook will drive all of you to carry out your daily duties with integrity, transparency and responsibility – particularly in project execution and closure as well as commercial agreements with external parties.”

There are currently 50 copies of the handbook printed for internal distribution and the e-handbook is also available for download on NMB’s website (www.nanomalaysia.com.my).
