SHAH ALAM, March 11 (Bernama) -- Sharing a commitment to respond to the development of the education landscape in this increasingly challenging time, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Agrobank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10 March 2022.
Aside from strengthening opportunities for both parties in terms of manpower, training, exchange of knowledge and expertise, this collaboration aims to broaden synergies that build and empower talent in banking and finance. The outcome will help increase graduate marketability and employment through programmes such as entrepreneurship, community service, research and innovation.
Speaking at the signing ceremony about the MoU, Datuk Yunos Bin Abd Ghani, Board of Director of Agrobank said, “Agrobank has an important role and responsibility to build the future workforce for the banking and financial industry. The rapid changes of banking industry require banks to operate at optimum capacity and therefore a quality workforce is fundamental to this success. Universities such as UiTM play a vital role in developing exceptional manpower to the industry and I believe this initiative is a valuable contribution towards building a better knowledge-based economy.
The Vice-Chancellor of UiTM said, “as the largest institution of higher learning in Malaysia, UiTM plays a very significant role as a platform for knowledge creation through teaching and learning based on current needs. It is important for the university to strengthen relationships with the industry to ensure its curriculum design and delivery, research and continuous educational development are geared towards producing quality professional graduates who meet the needs of the industry”.
She added that cooperation with financial institutions such as Agrobank provide valuable contributions and positive impact towards building a knowledge-based economy that benefit both parties, including staff, students and the local community. This collaboration complements efforts for knowledge expansion, academic upgrading, curriculum review, talent development, career and training through faculties and facilities owned by both parties.
Earlier, YBhg. Professor Ts. Dr Salmiah Kasolang, Rector of UiTM Penang Branch and Yang Mulia Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin, President/Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank signed the MoU. Held at Canseleri Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin UiTM, the ceremony was witnessed by Agrobank Board Member YBhg. Datuk Yunos Abd Ghani and YBhg. Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah, Chairman of the UiTM Board.
