Wednesday 18/05/2022

NEW DELHI, May 18 (Bernama) -- Tourism Malaysia participates at India’s largest tourism fair, South Asia's Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE), for the 18th year in Delhi NCR. The three- day event from 18 to 20 May 2022, is an effort to lure back Indian travellers after the long- awaited reopening of Malaysian borders on 1st April 2022.

At SATTE this year, Tourism Malaysia aims to raise awareness of Malaysia as an ideal holiday destination and instill confidence among Indians to feel safe to visit Malaysia once again. With more than 35,000 visitors expected to attend the event, this will anticipate to increase the number of Indian tourists to Malaysia significantly, as well as encourage greater cooperation between tour operators and members of the tourism fraternity.

The Malaysian delegation headed by Dato’ Sri Dr. Anil Jeet Singh Sandhu, Deputy Chairman of Tourism Malaysia together with 15 tour agents, three (3) hotel operators, three (3) product owners, three (3) airline operators, and one (1) state tourism board along with several officials from Tourism Malaysia.

“I am excited to announce that since the reopening of Malaysia’s international borders, India is among the top 5 tourist source markets. A whole new Malaysia is waiting for you to be discovered. Genting SkyWorld, Southeast Asia’s most anticipated outdoor theme park is finally open, while Penang has been listed on CNN’s Best Travel Destinations in 2022,” said Dr. Anil Jeet Singh Sandhu.

“A once-in-a-generation transformation, Sunway Resort in Kuala Lumpur is also ready to welcome you with cutting-edge technology, and we have Malaysia’s latest premium beach destination- Desaru Coast which was named one of the World’s Greatest Places of 2021 by TIME Magazine along with other new attractions that await you,” he added.

Malaysia has opened its shores for quarantine-free travel and welcomes fully-vaccinated international travellers. Starting 1 May 2022, fully-vaccinated inbound travellers are no longer required to undergo pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests, including children aged 12 and below.
