SERI KEMBANGAN, July 18 (Bernama) -- The nineteenth day of the sixth lunar month is Avalokiteshvara Enlightenment Day. Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, the founder of Golden Horse Digital Investment Bank (GHDIB), and Venerable Palden Nyima Rinpoche, the founder of the Kunzang Chokhor Ling Buddhists Association, jointly hosted the “Enlightenment Anniversary of Avalokiteshvara Blessing Ceremony” program on Sunday in conjunction with the Avalokiteshvara Enlightenment Day. A group of sangha members from the Three Yanas was also invited to the event to preside over the blessing ceremony.
The event begins with welcome speech given by Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, the organizing chairman.
“The most important thing for Buddhist practitioners is to understand the teaching of “cause and effect” and we need to grasp the good causes in our life, to increase the positivity,” said Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew.
Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew has previously launched a series of activities for the Avalokiteshvara exhibition, such as “Sutra for Pandemic” in lunar September 2020, “Guanyin Bodhisattva Charity Exhibition” in lunar February 2021, “Compassionate Spirit and Mutual Concern” in lunar June 2021 and “Motherly Love: 33 Guanyin Art And Cultural Event” in lunar September 2021. “Enlightenment Anniversary of Avalokiteshvara Blessing Ceremony” is the fifth series of activities for the Avalokiteshvara exhibition.
Most Ven. Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana Nayaka Maha Thera, the Chief Incumbent of Buddhist Maha Vihara in KL, the Venerable Bhante M Seevali from Siri Jayanti Association and the Venerable Palden Nyima Rinpoche, the founder of the Kunzang Chokhor Ling Buddhists Association also delivered speeches during the event.
Following the speech ceremony, the representatives of Sangha members from the Three Yanas preside over the blessing ceremony. Palden Nyima Rinpoche also led a group of Sangha members from the Three Yanas in reciting ‘Avalokitesvara Sadhana’.
The event is free and open to all worshippers. The programme has attracted a large number of worshippers to the event. Besides worshipping, "bathing the Avalokiteshvara" and making offerings of lights, flowers, and fruits to pray for family wellbeing.
Worshippers also admired Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew's collection of over 200 Avalokiteshvara statues, including the 33 exceptional finely crafted Avalokiteshvara statues. In addition, a free vegetarian buffet was provided to all the worshippers. A variety of goods were available for purchase during the event, including goods related to Tibetan Buddhism.
Worshippers who were unable to attend the event (17th July) can still attend the Dharma teachings given by Buddhists Masters from the Three Yanas from 2 pm to 4 pm on July 23rd and July 24th. These teachings aim to plant the seed of enlightenment in the listeners. On the first day, teachings will be given by Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist Teachers while Palden Nyima Rinpoche will give Vajrayana teachings on the second day.

In conjunction with the Ullambana Festival, Kunzang Chokhor Ling Buddhists Association will be holding Sangha Offering and Jang Chog Puja on August 7th, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Palace of the Golden Horses’ Royal Ballroom.
For this programme, 300 monks will be invited and worshippers should take this opportunity should make offerings to the monks and accumulate merits during this auspicious event.
