PETALING JAYA, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The World Congress on Innovation and Technology 2022 (WCIT 2022) that is scheduled to take place in Penang next week from 13- 15 September 2022 is on the run to enter the Malaysia Book of Records.

PIKOM, the organizer of The WCIT 2022 has announced that they have over-achieved the target of delegates with more than 4,000 delegate-tickets booked. In addition to that, due to overwhelming response, PIKOM is requested to accommodation additional requests for tech companies to participate at the WCIT 2022 exhibition and TechFest 2022, ending up occupying 6,500 sqm gross exhibition space. It will record as the largest experiential technology festival and conference in Malaysia, post pandemic.

The excitement does not stop there. Delegates, speakers, partners and visitors of WCIT 2022 along with the local Penangites will be able to witness a drone light show programmed by our official Malaysian drone-partner Drone-Sifu on the eve of Malaysia Day, followed by a 6-minute choreographed musical firework.

PIKOM Chairman and WCIT 2022 Organising Chairman, Dr Sean Seah highlighted, “We are working very closely with the Civil Authority Aviation of Malaysia (CAAM) on getting the go ahead on the drone light show. When all are in place, we will have over 600 drones flying the sky on the eve of Malaysia Day, and this will be the biggest drone light show in Malaysian history, making it eligible for the Malaysia Book of Records. I would like to personally express my gratitude to the Governor of Penang, Chief Minister of Penang and all parties involved who are working with us to making this possible for WCIT 2022.”

WCIT 2022 will kick off with an opening ceremony on the 13^th of September 2022, officiated by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, the Governor of Penang and YAB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, Prime Minister of Malaysia, while YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang will be officiating TechFest 2022.

TechFest 2022, taking place in conjunction with WCIT 2022 is happening from 14th to 18th September 2022 at Setia Spice Arena Penang, featuring more than 500 brands and products.
