PERBADANAN PUTRAJAYA, PETRONAS TO COLLABORATE FOR SMART SUSTAINABLE CITY INNOVATION HUB IN PUTRAJAYA

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) --Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) and PETRONAS Global Technical Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (PGTSSB) today announced collaborative efforts to establish the Putrajaya Smart Sustainable City Innovation Hub to boost innovations by local entrepreneurs under the Putrajaya Smart City Blueprint.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PPj President, Dato’ TPr. Fadlun Mak Ujud and PGTSSB Chief Executive Officer, Annaliz Abu Bakar, witnessed by Minister of Federal Territories, YB Dato’ Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim and Federal Territories Ministry Secretary General, Datuk Seri Hajah Rosida Binti Jaafar.
PPj and PGTSSB will cooperate in making Putrajaya a smart city solutions development innovation hub, and commercialisation of home-grown smart city solutions.
The MoU’s focus areas are Infrastructure & Building, Mobility, Environment, Security, Digital Citizen, and Leadership & Capability Development. The parties will also jointly conduct research on innovative solutions for smart city leveraging both organisations’ expertise and facilities.
The Putrajaya Smart Sustainable City Innovation Hub brings in a collaborative network for innovation to leverage on economic opportunities for Malaysian-made smart city solutions. This is achieved by creating a path for innovation in four key strategic pillars - Digital Transformation & Operational Excellence, Sustainability, Circular Economy & Emission Management, Cyber Security and National Entrepreneur & Capability Development.
In the Innovation Hub, PPj and PGTSSB will jointly select outstanding local start-ups and technology companies through an open approach, to implement their solution in an acceptable scale at Putrajaya as the Living Lab before it goes into commercialisation.
The collaboration is in line with Putrajaya Smart City Blueprint (2018-2025) under Smart Economy domain and consistent with National Digital Economy Policy 2025, National Fourth Industry Revolution 2030, and MySmart Wilayah 2030.
With PPj’s experience in the daily city operation and Smart City implementation, coupled with PGTSSB’s expertise in technical solutions, commercialisation process, and cybersecurity, the collaboration will pave ways for digital transformation while increasing economic competitiveness through digitalisation and digital talent development.
Cooperation towards the establishment of the Innovation Hub aims to not only optimise the impact of Putrajaya Smart City Blueprint (2018-2025), but also to expand Malaysia’s innovation and digital economy and inspire greater collaborations in the field.
PPj and PGTSSB seek to spur local innovations for smart city solutions as Putrajaya poises to be a true smart city living lab that is a platform for Malaysian innovation and economic development. The Innovation Hub may help other cities to reduce the cost of owning Smart City solutions and be able to quickly deploy, supply, and scale Smart City solutions in a city.
