KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet), the national retail payments network for Malaysia and operator of the shared ATM and MEPS ATM networks, have enabled acceptance of Discover®, Diners Club International®, and network alliance cards at its ATMs in the country after entering into a collaboration with Discover® Global Network, the global payment brand of Discover Financial Services in March earlier this year.
The launch, held at PayNet’s Headquarters in Bangsar South extends international and cross-border transaction capabilities for Discover Global Network and network alliance cardholders, fulfilling the demands of its growing global clientele. Discover, Diners Club International, PULSE®, and network alliance cardholders can now perform balance inquiry and cash withdrawal transactions at participating local ATMs.
According to Azrul Fakhzan Mainor, Director, Card Services of PayNet, "PayNet is committed to expanding collaborations with international partners to enable acceptance of cards from other countries and elevate cross-border payment flows. Visitors from other countries to Malaysia can now enjoy the convenience of local currency withdrawals at participating ATMs. Next is to enable them to make purchases by just tapping their cards."
“Discover continues to work with PayNet to provide our cardholders a variety of ways to access their money when traveling,” said Annie Zhang, Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific at Discover. “Our work together will create simplified and streamlined ways of paying.”
This expansion of card acceptance for Discover®, Diners Club International®, and network alliance cards in Malaysia is an ongoing process with the next phase planned will enable cardholders to make retail purchases at the retailers' Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals at more than 50,000 retail outlets throughout
Malaysia.
