KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Axiata Group Berhad (“Axiata” or “the Group”) yesterday renewed its commitment to creating an operational environment free of bribery, corruption and graft through the signing of a Corruption Free Pledge following its inaugural pledge in 2018.

Representing Axiata was one of the Acting Group CEOs, Vivek Sood, who signed the Corruption Free Pledge in the presence of the Director of the Public Sector Governance Division of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Madam Lim Bee Kean, at the Group’s headquarters.

The Corruption Free Pledge signing reflects the Group’s effort to uphold the National Anti-Corruption Plan 2019-2023 which enshrines the people’s expectation for a corruption-free Malaysia and promotes greater transparency, accountability and integrity at all levels. It also distills the essence of Axiata’s Anti-Corruption Plan, which was formulated and approved by the Board in 2021 underpinned by Axiata’s core value of Uncompromising Integrity Exceptional Performance (UI.EP).

Axiata ensures that the highest standards of governance are upheld through Board Risk and Compliance Committees which have been established at the Corporate Center and in all of its Operating Companies across its regional footprint. Similarly, the Group has also established Gifts, Donations and Sponsorships Committees groupwide to uphold the policies in place.

Also present at the signing were Group Chairman, Senior Leadership Team, CEOs and Board members of Operating Companies (OpCos) and their respective compliance representatives. The event is the culmination of Axiata’s Integrity Month, a month-long celebration of the Group’s Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) activities to create awareness, alignment and adoption throughout the organisation.

Director of the Public Sector Governance Division of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Madam Lim Bee Kean said, “I am pleased to congratulate Axiata for the fresh undertaking by both leadership and individual employees in their daily duties.
