PUTRAJAYA, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has been awarded with Doctor of Creative Arts (PhD) by the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA).
Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Khani graduated with an MBA at Institute of Technology Australia and MBA at Oxford Learning Centre of Excellence, United Kingdom. He started his career in Tourism Malaysia and has been offered various prominent positions and as he earned his stripes, he was posted as an overseas Director to undertake global markets which include Tourism Malaysia’s offices in Australia, Singapore, South Africa and Thailand. His outstanding expertise in marketing is proven by an increase of 60% tourist arrivals from Singapore between year 2000 to 2004. During his service period from 2004 to 2006, a 45% growth for Latin America was recorded, opening the market for Argentina.
He was the brain behind the MyCEB’s Malaysia Business Events Strategic Marketing Plan (SMP) 2021 – 2030 that aspires to deliver transformative outcome whereby by year 2030, business events are expected to attract 5.9 million delegates, contributing to RM42.12 billion in estimated economic impact whilst creating an estimated 25,833 total job opportunities.

Throughout his career, Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Khani has been recognised as a selfless innovator and leader who has a significant influence and has received numerous positions throughout his career for his remarkable legacy, including ICCA Board of Directors Representative for Asia Pacific Region, Advisory BOD Member for Asian Federation of Exhibition & Convention Associations (AFECA), Advisory Board Member for MACEOS, Board of Trustee for Islamic Tourism Centre, Adjunct Professor at Taylor’s University, Advisor, International Journal of Business Events & Legacies at Curtin University Malaysia, just to name a few. He was also being awarded the ‘Business Events Personality’ by MACEOS last Friday.
