The two-days Science and Technology Exploration Camp was carried out in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Kedah State Education Department. AT&S plans to carry out the similar camp three times a year to instil interest of pupils in Kedah in Science and Technology.
KUALA MUDA, Malaysia, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- AT&S Malaysia launches its first ever state-wide CSR Program in Kedah by organising a Science and Technology Exploration Camp (STEC) for 160 pupils from eight primary schools in the district of Kuala Muda/Yan. UKM’s patented STEM Education Program was adopted for the camp. This Science and Technology Education is part of four AT&S CSR thrusts,that is AT&S Volunteers and Young Enthusiasm for Science and Engineering, besides High Technology Fair, 21
st Century Skills and Sustainable Development Goals’ Learning and Actions.
The program was launched by AT&S Malaysia SVP Managing Director, Vittorio Villari; Director of Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), UKM, Professor Madya Dr. Ahmad Rifqi Md Zain; and Muhammad Fazli Bin Abu Bakar, the representative from Kedah State Education Department.
Vittorio expresses, “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is key for the development of a nation as it supports the technology innovation quest. We have chosen Science and Technology Education as part of our CSR program to spark interest in young children and generate more talents who will support the industrial need of Kedah.”
Professor Madya Dr. Ahmad Rifqi Md Zain, Director of IMEN-UKM in his appreciation speech remarks,” This is the first time we run the UKM’s patented STEM Education out of Selangor. This particular program was sponsored by Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) for 500 school children in 2022, in conjunction with the National Science Week. I hope that the pupils here would benefit from this program.”
AT&S Malaysia is planning to hold the similar Science and Technology Exploration Camp in Kedah 3 times a year to inspire more pupils to take up science, technology and engineering study.
