GARNIER MALAYSIA EDUCATES MORE THAN 2,000 STUDENTS IN MALAYSIA THROUGH ITS 'GREEN BEAUTY' INITIATIVE

Tuesday 31/01/2023

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan 31 (Bernama-PRNewswire) -- Garnier Malaysia today announced the wrap-up of its school education programme in partnership with the Malaysia Nature Society (MNS). The programme was launched in June 2022 with the objective to cultivate the next generation of Green Heroes through its nationwide 'Garnier Jom Kurangkan Plastik Program'.

The nationwide school education programme saw a total of 600 schools where a total of 2,288 students and 782 teachers benefitted from the programme. Both students and teachers were educated on recycling, upcycling, and ways to tackle plastic pollution via virtual workshops. These students then put their knowledge to the test and ran respective recycling activities in their schools and managed to collect a total of 56,693kg of plastic during the duration of the campaign.

Chris Chan, Head of Garnier Malaysia said that "We couldn't be happier with the results from our Garnier Green Beauty initiative, and we thank our dedicated partner, MNS for the hard work and in helping us realize this goal of educating and cultivating the next generation Green Heroes. Through the designed workshops and syllabus, students are now exposed to and aware of how simple it is to practice the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) and we hope that though this programme, we have made recycling fun. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and Garnier hopes to continue making a change to our local communities and young advocates through the power of education."

Green Beauty is Garnier's global initiative of an end-to-end approach to sustainability. This commitment has ambitious 2025 targets to dramatically reduce Garnier's overall environmental impact. The 2025 sustainability goals include ensuring all products to be made with zero virgin plastic, as well as changes to packaging to ensure that all materials are reusable, recyclable, or compostable. Taking green measures at all steps of the brand's value chain, Garnier commits to having 100% of their industrial sites to be carbon neutral by 2025. Garnier also aims to empower 1,000 communities through their Solidarity Sourcing program.
