KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The Islamic Banking & Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM) hosted its 4th IBFIM Certification Conferment Ceremony on 25 February 2023, honouring 745 individuals and various institutions for their achievements in building capacity for the Islamic finance industry. During the ceremony, IBFIM conferred nine (9) categories of certification, which include among others Certified Professional Shariah Auditor, Certified Shariah in Islamic Finance, Certified Qualification in Islamic Finance, Premier Certificate in Islamic Wealth Management, Islamic Legacy Management and Associate Qualification
in Islamic Finance.
The event also honour Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, who received the Islamic Finance Premier Leadership Award (IFPLA) for his achievement in the development in Islamic finance both locally and globally. This award was previously conferred to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed.
“As an Islamic finance talent development institution, for over 25 years, we have certified more than 12,000 individuals during that period. We wish to continue being an enabler in supporting the industry in achieving its full potential through skills and technical certifications.” said Dato’ Mohamed Rafique Merican, IBFIM

During the ceremony, IBFIM also acknowledged Islamic financial institutions that demonstrate a strong commitment in developing Islamic finance talent via the presentation of IBFIM League of Excellence Awards (ILEAD). Public Islamic Bank Berhad was the recipient which signifies notable participation in IBFIM's
training and certification programmes.
International Institutions namely the Asian Development Bank of Philippines, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Central Bank of Seychelles, Financial Planning Standards Board Indonesia, and Universiti Islam Sultan Shariff Ali, Brunei, along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Malaysian Technical Corporation Programme) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia received the IBFIM Outstanding Industry Collaboration Award (IOIC). This award recognises the institutions' outstanding collaboration with IBFIM in developing Islamic finance talent and skilled professionals.
