CIMB EXTENDS PAYMENT RELIEF SUPPORT TO CUSTOMERS AFFECTED BY THE FLOODS

Wednesday 08/03/2023

The CIMB Flood Relief Assistance plan is intended to alleviate the financial hardships faced by those affected by the recent floods

KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- Reinforcing its commitment as a purpose-driven financial institution, CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (“CIMB” or the “Group”) today announced that it will be reactivating its financial obligation payment relief under the CIMB Flood Relief Assistance Plan to individual and business customers that have been affected by the recent floods.

CIMB Bank Berhad (“CIMB Bank”) and CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad (“CIMB Islamic”) will provide a six-month payment relief on loan and financing products for individual and SME/business customers who have been impacted by the flood to help ease their financial constraints. In addition, late charges and fees will also be waived to ensure those impacted are able to access a seamless application process using their basic information/documentation. Subsequently, a Disaster Relief Facility of up to RM700,000 at a preferential financial rate will also be made available for SME customers that require additional cash flow assistance, on top of the payment relief.

Charges would be waived for credit/debit card replacements, statement requests or replacements of damaged passbooks and bankers' cheques. CIMB will also be collaborating with its insurance partners to expedite the processing of insurance claims in view of the damaging affects post flood in the impacted areas.

Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ahmad, Group Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Group, said, “We deeply empathise with those who have been severely impacted by the recent floods. CIMB is committed to continue playing our role in serving the communities we operate in through our flood assistance and payment relief programme, similar to what we have done in the past, most recently in 2021. We hope our efforts will help alleviate the burden of those affected and provide some financial relief to set aside funds for them to rebuild their lives once the situation improves.”
