Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) and its branch campus, MCKL College (Penang, Pykett Campus), established diploma programmes in Digital Business, Digital Marketing, and Financial Technology (KL Campus), Information Technology (IoT focused) and Computer Science (Data Science focused) to help the next-gen workforce tackle modern-world challenges. Graduates of the programme can extend one to two years in reputable universities in UK and Australia to complete their undergraduate degree.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- A quick look at your surroundings, and you will have to admit that most things you own are digitised and smarter in this tech-oriented world. Your car, phone, watch, and ability to accept your online shopping item deliveries whilst at work are all thanks to cognitive technology and artificial intelligence innovations that have completely transformed and reshaped our living standards.

According to Forbes, it’s predicted that more than 43 billion devices will be connected to the Internet. This will generate, collect, share, and help us use data in all ways. The convergence of big data, Internet of Things used across businesses is valuable as it will bridge the gap between the real and virtual worlds. But in the current work-from-home world, it feels like everyone is running a digital business when the reality is that they rely on technology to operate and grow.

It does not mean that downloading a few apps makes a business a digital one – a true digital transformation is a slow process of shifting away from manual processes into a customer-centric, tech-focused business model. This could look like leveraging AI to improve customer experience, capturing data to improve business intelligence, or using productivity apps or systems to automate workflow. The digital landscape is growing exponentially; in 2016, it was estimated that the global economy was worth US$11.5 trillion and is expected to increase to US$19 trillion by 2025. As more businesses move online, it is important for companies to have a solid digital presence.

Managing this trend also requires changes in our approach to education, equipping them with skills required in the workforce and the ability to re-skill and upskill throughout their lifetimes. Recognising the need to produce talent in this area, Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) and its branch campus, MCKL College (Penang, Pykett Campus), established diploma programmes in Digital Business, Digital Marketing, and Financial Technology (KL Campus) to tackle modern-world challenges and ensure students are equipped with knowledge in conducting business over the internet and the web. Students will also possess sound theoretical and applicable knowledge enabling them to advance their careers in the field and unlock business opportunities in a competitive environment. Graduates of the programmes can extend an additional year by progressing into reputable universities like Deakin University in Australia; Keele University, Middlesex University London, and Sheffield Hallam University in United Kingdom to complete their undergraduate degree.

With more and more people spending time on the Internet to purchase goods or browse services, there is a growing need to capture data, especially when devices can now “talk” through the Internet. MCKL’s diplomas in Information Technology and Computer Science are designed to equip students with broad-based knowledge and future-oriented skills in the Internet of Things, cloud computing, data science, machine learning, and cybersecurity. Graduates with this diploma can top up an additional year by transitioning to MCKL’s partner university, the University of South Australia to obtain their undergraduate degree.

Join us for MCKL’s Open Day on 31 March & 1 April with up to 100% Merit Scholarship, Tuition fee waivers, other scholarship, and financial aids available! Contact us at 03-2300 0998 (KL Campus), 04-217 5088 (Pykett Campus, Penang) or visit https://www.mckl.edu.my/open-day/ for more details.
