The Malaysian Timber Council’s international wood and woodworking trade show, the Malaysian Wood Expo (MWE) 2023, is back after its successful inaugural fair in 2019. KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) is pleased to announce the highly anticipated return of its all-successful international wood and woodworking trade show, the Malaysian Wood Expo (MWE) 2023.
Jointly organised by MTC and the Pablo Publishing and Exhibition Pte Ltd, MWE 2023 will be held from 18 – 20 June 2023 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
“The timely presence of the Expo bodes well for the timber industry which recorded an export value of RM25.21 billion in 2022, one of the highest in recent years. Aiming to further uplift the industry, MWE is set to provide new solutions and greater opportunities to source for the latest in and for the timber-based industry,” said MTC Chairman Tuan Haji Zainal Abidin Haji Abdullah.
The Expo will showcase raw materials and wood products such as wooden flooring, mouldings, doors, door frames and windows, panel products, wooden pallets as well as woodworking machinery such as cutting tools, combined machines, dust collection equipment, edge-banding materials and machines, handling equipment, abrasives, adhesives, coatings, timber-related equipment, and furniture production software, among others.
Exciting activities such as product launches, business matching programmes, pocket talks, and networking receptions have also been lined up for the three-day fair.
“Both MTC and Pablo Publishing and Exhibition have pulled out all the stops to make MWE 2023 a success. The 2023 edition will offer more opportunities for generating leads, increasing sales, and building relevant connections within the industry,” said MTC Chief Executive Officer, Madam Noraihan Abdul Rahman.
MTC is also anticipating more importers and exporters to join MWE’s Business Matching Programme, specifically its Incoming Buying Mission (IBM) for the timber industry and trade.
“In 2019, the show garnered tremendous success with over 60% of its exhibitors from overseas, some of whom had sold out their machinery on the first day of the fair. MWE’s IBM, which was conducted in collaboration with MATRADE, generated potential sales of approximately RM118.93 million. The pocket talks, on the other hand, will be organised to give visitors insights into the latest market trends and developments overseas post-pandemic,” said Madam Noraihan.
To further encourage participation in MWE 2023, MTC will be providing assistance to local buyers who purchase machinery, Air Pollution Control (APC) equipment and raw materials.
