Visitors explore the cutting-edge world of automotive technology at Malaysia Autoshow 2023.CYBERJAYA, May 10 (Bernama) -- The highly anticipated Malaysia Autoshow 2023 closed its door after a 4 day long showcase, leaving car enthusiasts and industry insiders in awe of the latest advancements and innovations in the automotive industry. The event, which took place from May 4th to May 7th, showcased an impressive range brand that manufacture or distribute cars, 2-wheelers, EVs, accessories and technology providers.
This year's Malaysia Autoshow received about 190,000 visitors this year, pushing the space at MAEPS to its limit. Notably, the Autoshow broke the billion-ringgit threshold, with OEMs reporting a total RM1 billion potential sales during the 4-day event and a total of about 2,200 bookings of vehicles and about 6,800 sales leads gathered.
One of the significant takeaways from the event was the surge in electric vehicle interest, with many visitors placing orders for their next car. The number of bookings recorded was 41% of the total bookings. The manufacturers provided the opportunity for visitors to book their electric vehicles during the event, indicating a growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles and the increasing awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles.
The Autoshow this year also saw a high number of car and bike launches and reveals - 7 launches on the Media Day alone, and even more organized throughout the 4-day programme.
In addition to the latest cars and technology, Malaysia's national brands took center stage through the revealing of new concepts and product offerings. Perodua introduced the R&D Aspiration Showcase, showcasing the cutting-edge innovation of PERODUA EM-O (ELECTRIC MOTION ONLINE), which was the centre of attraction at their showcase.
Proton also revealed the Proton X90 at their booth as soon as the model was launched by Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim at their official launch in Kuala Lumpur. Other notable brands including GWM, Honda, Toyota, Chery, Kia, and EONs put up a strong line up of their latest models from both ICE and electrical variants.
For the first time, the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 featured a dedicated Premium Hall to showcase and highlight the best technology the market has to offer from the premium models.This Autoshow also showcases EVs models from BMW, Mercedes Benz and Lotus at the Premium Hall. The addition of the Malaysia Bike Show saw the launches of several new models from various 2-wheeler brands, such as Modenas/Kawasaki, Aveta and the various brands under Mforce.
The success of the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 test drive experience highlights the importance of providing customers with the opportunity to experience products first-hand. A total of 3,500 number of test drive and also 2,800 number of test ride was recorded, translated about 17,000 km of total range for 4 days event. It shows that the automotive industry is committed to providing innovative and engaging experiences for customers.
Meanwhile, visitors were served the strongest ever presence of electric vehicles at the Malaysia EV Show, with brands such as NETA, GoAuto Higer, BMW, Volvo, and many more. Malaysian technology companies such as EV Connection (EVC), System Consultation Services (SCS) and REKA were also present to showcase locally developed technology in autonomous driving and electromobility.
Another important highlight of the Autoshow was the Soundvalley Festival 2023 Concert, which complemented the various fun filled activities at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 Autofest. Highlights of the Soundvalley included performances from Aina Abdul, and a special tribute performance by XPDC to lead singer Allahyarham Syed Ismail Syed Ibrahim (Mael XPDC). The concert was attended by 5,000 visitors to the Malaysia Autoshow
