MARII AND IOI STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION WITH MOU EXCHANGE

Partnership between MARii and IOI in advancing both Malaysia & Indonesia automotive industry.
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and Indonesia Automotive Institute (IOI) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, which signifies an important step towards further strengthening the working relationship between two countries. The exchange ceremony which took place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur highlights the unwavering commitment of countries to continue to work closely on advancement of the automotive industry.
MARii and IOI have consistently worked together advancing both Malaysia & Indonesia automotive industry. The most significant cooperation is the joint effort by MARii and IOI in creating business opportunities for local automotive vendors and Small Medium Industries (SMIs) in Malaysia and Indonesia by facilitating business matching, international exhibitions, and joint ventures. This is to promote growth in automotive manufacturing, parts localization, and exports, with the aim of becoming regional and global suppliers.
This MoU will be geared towards the establishment of the ASEAN Automotive Institute or alliance, and other forms of engagement among member countries by creating business opportunities, improve supply chain management, research on cleaner fuels, and enhance battery manufacturing with the goal of a greener, more innovative automotive future.
This MOU Exchange was witnessed by En. Muhammad Zulhilmi Ahmad, Director Industrial Development Division, Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI). This further demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting the enhancement of innovation and progress within the automotive industry.
“We trust that through this partnership, we will be able to leverage on IOI’s expertise and resources to foster mutually beneficial collaborations, where we can attract even greater investments in the automotive ecosystem. This is where, we ASEAN countries should complement each other, not competing.”’
Zulhilmi in his speech said “This MOU will enhance cooperation and collaboration with Indonesia in the automotive sector. I am confident that this cooperation and collaboration will not only benefit both countries but also for the betterment of ASEAN countries as a whole to move towards recovery and shared prosperity for a sustainable future.’’
The MOU Exchange took place during the EVM Summit 2023. Themed “Charting the Future of Sustainable Mobility’, held in conjunction with EVM Asia 2023 featuring expert in the automotive fields. Speakers and panelist had engaged in a constructive discussion and insightful exchange across the spectrum of the EV Ecosystem.
