Showcase for Selangor as a premier global investment destination expected to draw 50,000 trade visitors from around the region

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Invest Selangor Berhad officially launched the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2023 today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. SIBS 2023 will be held for four days, from 19 to 22 October.

The annual business event initiated by the Selangor State Government and organised by Invest Selangor Berhad, SIBS is one of the region’s premier platforms for brands, innovators and other business movers and shakers to explore the great potential to be found in the Malaysian and regional markets.

Themed “Selangor, Gateway to ASEAN”, the four-day SIBS 2023 promises to pack even more value in its 7th edition this year. Featuring a total of 11 events, SIBS 2023 takes up the entire 8 expo halls and 7 conference halls of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, hosting approximately 1,000 trade booths. The Summit is also anticipated to draw 50,000 trade visitors and result in potential negotiated sales of RM1.5 billion.

This is a step upwards compared to SIBS 2022, which saw record-breaking participation of businesses from 60 countries taking up a total of 906 booths, and achieving RM1.45 billion in potential transaction value.

During the launch, the new Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility and the Exco in charge of SIBS, YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, expressed his excitement to meet the partners and supporters of SIBS, and to reaffirm Selangor’s commitment to provide this international networking platform for the business community.

“As I gathered from the results gained by SIBS over the years, it is clearly fast gaining an international reputation as the premier regional event for businesses seeking to build and expand their presence in the ASEAN region,” he continued.

The 7th Selangor International Business Summit 2023 promises to pack even more value for its stakeholders, featuring a total of 6 main events, with an additional of 5 side events.

The success of SIBS 2023 is made possible through the collaboration of various entities, including Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) and organising partners like Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), Yayasan Selangor, and KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific. Several supporting partners, such as Professional Culinaire Association, InfoMed, Malaysia F&B Executive Association, Bioeconomy Corporation, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, Medical Device Authority, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia, Malaysia Retail Chain Association, Malaysia – China Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia Association of Hotels, and Pakistan US Chamber of Commerce, have also played crucial roles in making this event a reality.

During his remarks at the launch of SIBS 2023, CEO of Invest Selangor YBhg. Dato’ Hasan Azhari Hj. Idris said, “SIBS has now grown in leaps and bounds, to become one of Malaysia’s largest international marketplace and business networking events for exhibitors, trade visitors and buyers, investors and conference delegates that matches business communities across the region.”

He also highlighted that SIBS 2023 will be a great opportunity to create, connect and collaborate with possible existing and new business partners, not only from Malaysia, but possibly from many countries attending SIBS 2023.

YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility, extended an invitation to the business community to join SIBS 2023. In his speech, he said, “At this juncture, I also want to encourage businesses and industry players who have yet to sign up to reach out to Invest Selangor and participate in SIBS in one way or another. Take this opportunity to engage in the many discussions, forge productive partnerships, and seize the opportunity within Selangor and the broader ASEAN market presented during SIBS 2023”.
