SIBS 2023 solidifies Selangor’s regional position as the gateway to ASEAN and global investment destinationKUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Invest Selangor Berhad officially kicked off the 7th edition of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur (KLCC). The summit will be held for 4 days, from 19th to 22nd October, and promises to be the largest and most exciting edition of this important regional business networking and thought leadership event.
This year, besides featuring six core components, SIBS 2023 will also feature 5 exciting events held in parallel with the main programmes. SIBS 2023 also sees greater participation compared to all previous years, totalling 1006 booths altogether, and with events being held in all 8 expo halls and 7 conference halls in KLCC.
The six main programmes are:
a) The 9th Selangor International Expo (F&B),
b) The 7th Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC)
c) The 8th Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC)
d) The 4th Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE)
e) The 9th Selangor International Expo (Medic), and
f) The 3rd Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK).
Additionally, SIBS 2023 will also feature five exciting events in parallel with the main programmes, which are:

c) Selangor International Healthcare Conference
d) Malaysia International Tea & Coffee Expo
e) Selangor International Business Summit Invitational Golf Tournament
YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, the new Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility and the new Exco in charge of the SIBS said during the opening ceremony, “SIBS 2023 promises to be the largest and most exciting edition of this important regional business networking and thought leadership event. It has grown in leaps and bounds to become one of Malaysia’s largest international marketplace and business networking events for local and international exhibitors, trade visitors and conference attendees.”
The biggest event in SIBS 2023 is the The Selangor International Expo (F&B) 2023 features a total of 332 booths, with international F&B industry players from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Uganda, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Korea, Turkiye, Kenya and Australia. In addition, 18 local pavilions in SIE (F&B) will be taken by Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Johor, Sarawak, Malacca, and other federal ministry and agencies such as Kementerian Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan, Malaysia Cocoa Board, PERDA, MARA, Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia and many others.
The Selangor International Expo (Medic) 2023, is a dedicated healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device expo, and will host a total of 84 booths. The expo features key industry players originating from Malaysia, China, Japan, Australia, Switzerland, France, USA, Singapore, German and India, including Astra Zeneca, Sanofi, Panasonic, Qualitas, Johnson Fitness, Sunway Medical Centre, Assunta Hospital, and others.
The much anticipated Selangor ASEAN Business Conference 2023 will continue to solidify its reputation as a an important regional thought leadership forum discussing geo-economic challenges and opportunities while also looking at how Selangor can play its pivotal role in promoting cross-border collaborations. This year, SABC has expanded to 2 days from the 1-day conference of previous years. Several dedicated panel sessions have been curated to introduce the vast opportunities for inter ASEAN trade and investment, with key thought leaders from ASEAN Business Advisory Council Malaysia, ASEAN – Japan Centre, Centre for Strategic and International Studies Indonesia, Thailand Development Research Institute, KADIN, Penjana Kapital, MIDA, IRDA, Invest Sabah, Invest Pahang and others, sharing their insights.
Meanwhile, the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention will have a total of 274 booths featuring tech-related companies and service providers from Malaysia, UK, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia, including Affin Bank, Lazada, Pos Malaysia, Worldwide Holdings Berhad, Carsome, Bermaz Auto, Urban Farm Tech, Razer, WavPay and others.
The 4th edition of the Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo or SRIE 2023 will showcase 88 booths, with key exhibitors from local and international universities, industry councils and research institutions. Key stakeholders such as Malaysia Rubber Council, Forest Research Institute Malaysia, Malaysia Timber Industry Board, Malaysia Palm Oil Board and Malaysia Nuclear Agency will also be participating in parallel seminars within the expo.
The 3rd Selangor Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) will host 228 booths, featuring key industrial park ecosystem players and suppliers not only from Selangor but also from the region. Key industrial park developers include NCT, EcoWorld, Sime Darby, TH Property, World Klang Group, PKNS, UMW, Compass and others. In a spirit of collective promotion of ASEAN as an investment destination, Invest Selangor is collaborating with other investment promotion agencies in Malaysia and beyond, reaffirming the expo as the only industrial park expo in this region.
Apart from the 6 main components of SIBS 2023, the record five parallel programmes promise to offer outstanding value as well.
The Selangor International Culinary Festival will once again gather local and international chefs, who will bring their own unique flavour profiles to the SIE (F&B) 2023 in an exciting competition. Another co-located programme within SIE (F&B) 2023 is the Selangor International Coffee Week with promoting coffee culture and ecosystem players. The Malaysia International Tea & Coffee Expo (MITCE) is also co- located in SIE (F&B) and features tea and coffee traders and exporters from around the region.
Meanwhile, the Selangor International Healthcare Conference, a programme under SIE (Medic) is a two-day conference, featuring a total of 21 local and international speakers from USA, Singapore, UAE, Philippines and Malaysia. These experts will be sharing valuable insights into the healthcare industry, focusing on two key themes: Healthcare Financing and Precision Health.
SIBS 2023 will also feature an invitational golf tournament on 21st October 2023, which will open up opportunities for SIBS participants to network with YAB Dato Menteri Besar, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, chambers of commerce and industry representatives as well as senior federal and state government officials.
This year, with a target of RM 1.5 billiion of potential negotiated sales, SIBS2023 will continue its role as the regional premier summit for local and international industry players to convene and explore the great potential of the Malaysian and regional markets.
