MFPC INAUGURAL MALAYSIAN FINANCIAL PLANNING DAY

Monday 23/10/2023

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) successfully held its inaugural large-scale Malaysian Financial Planning Day (MFPD) in conjunction with the National Financial Literacy Month on Saturday, 21st October 2023 at Securities Commission Malaysia. The event which is a fully funded initiative by the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF) was officiated by Datin Azalina Adham, Managing Director of Securities Commission, Malaysia.

In collaboration with the Securities Commission (SC) Malaysia, MFPD is set to be a Career Fair platform where youths are exposed to potential employers in the Financial Planning industry. The programme includes a series of presentations and one-to-one sessions that served as a guide for youths to pursue a career as a financial planner. The programme increased participants' financial literacy through a series of talk sessions conducted by experts.

Along with emphasis on financial literacy, MFPC is committed to elevating the financial planning industry and increasing the number of trained financial planning professionals in the country. MFPC signature programme, RFP and Shariah RFP certifications, which have been certified by Bank Negara, are widely recognized as industry benchmarks and are required for the Financial Adviser's Licence and Financial Adviser's Representative Licence. They are also recognized by the SC as required qualifications for the Capital Markets Services Representative's Licence (CMRSL).

The Council’s President, Andy Ng Yen Heng said “Today's event marks a significant step forward in our mission to provide young individuals with essential information about careers in financial planning and the financial markets”. “Our primary objective today is to inspire and inform young people who are contemplating a career in financial planning or the financial markets. We aim to provide you with the knowledge and insights needed to make informed career choices, ultimately contributing to the growth of licensed intermediaries in the capital market,” he added.

Consistent with the MFPC's aims to provide a platform for practitioners and those pursuing advancement in their careers to meet and interact with certified financial planners in order to better understand the work and industry, the event provided a forum for professional networking and industry updates. MFPD is jointly organized by four Malaysian financial planning institutions which are MFPC, the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), the Association of Financial Advisors (AFA), and the Malaysian Financial Planners and Advisers Association (MFPAA).
