KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The UMW Group’s strong automotive sales momentum continued in October 2023 with the registration of a record 44,767 vehicles as both UMW Toyota Motor (“UMWT”) and UMW’s associate company, Perodua continue to deliver their outstanding orders.  Accordingly, year-to-date October 2023, the Group’s automotive sales increased by 17% to 354,505 units from the 302,356 units registered in the same period of 2022.
 
UMWT registered 10,931 units in October 2023, its highest monthly sales in the last 5 years. It was also 18% higher than the 9,281 units registered in October 2022.  Year-to-date October 2023, UMWT registered 87,442 units, recording a 9% growth compared with the 80,153 units registered in the corresponding period of 2022.  To refresh its model line-up, UMWT launched the all-new Toyota Vellfire and Toyota Alphard on 23 October 2023, priced from RM438,000 and RM538,000, respectively.  These models have set a new benchmark for advanced features, offering efficient and luxurious transportation solutions for individuals who appreciate sophistication, refined design and cutting-edge technology.
 
Perodua registered 33,836 units in October 2023, its highest-ever monthly sales, as it continues to ramp up production supported by the improving supply chain.  It was also 31% higher compared with the 25,849 units delivered in October 2022.  Year-to-date October 2023, Perodua’s sales surged to 267,063 units, 20% higher than the 222,203 units delivered in the same period of 2022.  For the first ten months of 2023, Perodua’s top selling models were the Bezza, followed by the Axia and Myvi. 
 
UMW Holdings Berhad’s Officer-in-Charge, Megat Shahrul Azmir said, “We are pleased with the record sales registered by both UMWT and Perodua in October 2023.  Year-to-date, both companies have continued to register higher sales compared with the same period of 2022.  We are confident that both companies will achieve their sales targets for 2023 based on the outstanding bookings as well as the sustained demand for new vehicles.  The introduction of new and facelifted models is also expected to drive sales.  We would like to thank our customers for their continued support of our products and services.”
