MIA AFT LOGOKUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has organised the MIA Accounting & Financial Technology Showcase 2024 (MIA AFT), a one-day one-stop showcase for transformative tech solutions specially geared to accountancy and finance professionals.
The MIA AFT is a rebranding of MIA AccTech, the popular accountancy technology conference which was first launched in 2018. The reimagined MIA AFT seeks to accelerate MIA’s digital advocacy efforts as steered by the MIA Digital Technology Blueprint issued in 2018.
“The AFT 2024 renews MIA’s commitment to updating accountancy and finance leaders on the latest technology-driven advancements, while collaborating strategically with technology leaders to propose transformative solutions that can enhance accounting and finance processes, streamline operations, safeguard businesses, and harness the power of data analytics,” stated MIA President YBhg Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad.
The MIA AFT is value-packed with future-relevant tech content spread out over three theatres: Theatre 1 – Digital Transformation, Theatre 2 – Technology in Practice and Theatre 3 – Strategic Leadership. Two key themes of the AFT are generative AI and e-Invoicing, which are major developments impacting the accountancy profession and its value proposition to stakeholders. Other notable themes are cybersecurity, analytics and automation. The MIA AFT also assembled a roster of 36 tech-cum-business experts who will engage participants over 29 sessions.
“As AI takes over the world, there will be a strong focus on the implications of generative AI (which understands patterns and structures in vast databanks and uses that to create or generate new data e.g. words, images, videos, music, computer applications, and virtual realities) and its prospective impacts on finance and accounting,” said MIA CEO Dr. Wan Ahmad Rudirman Wan Razak.
“With e-Invoicing set to transform the business and taxation landscape, the MIA AFT 2024 features a range of e-Invoicing topics, including the use of AI, Cloud, omnichannel, data and business process automation solutions for efficient e-Invoicing, and a look at prospects following the e-invoicing mandate,” added Dr. Wan Ahmad Rudirman.
Other groundbreaking solutions covered at the MIA AFT 2024 include unleashing the potentials of generative AI in finance functions, and harnessing the power of data analytics and automation for more effective finance and accounting processes.
Members attending the AFT will be awarded 5 CPE (continuing professional education) hours by MIA to support their CPE compliance requirements while enhancing their professional development needs. In total, the MIA AFT attracted close to 2,500 participants, attesting to the robust interest of accountancy professionals in adopting digital solutions for higher productivity and performance.
“We are confident that the MIA AFT will help to futureproof accountancy professionals for a fast-changing tech landscape and the evolving digital economy. This is part of our continuous advocacy for digital transformation to ensure that our close to 40,000 members are future fit and relevant to employers and business,” concluded Dr. Wan Ahmad Rudirman.
