Generali Malaysia Run 2024 empowered 12,000 runners to run for better health and champion key social causes – Children, Health & Environment.

PUTRAJAYA, May 20 (Bernama) -- The first Generali Malaysia Run 2024 has successfully gathered 12,000 runners across 3 run categories of 6km, 12km and 21.1km at Dataran Putrajaya on 19th May 2024.

Receiving an overwhelming support from runners and sponsors this year, the inaugural event has contributed RM105,000 to 3 non-governmental organisations (NGO) – PINTAR Foundation, Malaysian Nature Society, National Cancer Society Malaysia. Runners were not only empowered to choose their T-shirt based on their preferred NGO and cause, but also encouraged to learn more about the social causes through a line up of engaging activities held during the run day.

• PINTAR Foundation: education for underprivileged children
• Malaysian Nature Society: environmental conservation
• National Cancer Society Malaysia: cancer awareness

Besides the 3 NGOs, Generali Malaysia Run has also partnered with sponsors to raise funds for The Human Safety Net (THSN) Global Challenge―a global movement of people helping people with a mission to help people living in vulnerable circumstances. To date, over RM 250,000 has been raised for Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia to provide early childhood education to 80 children and families in PPR Kg Muhibbah.

Themed “Run with a Purpose” this year, Generali Malaysia Run 2024 has also showcased a heartwarming display of solidarity as 10 cancer survivors from the National Cancer Society Malaysia participated in the 6km run, further embodying the resilience and determination of individuals impacted by cancer.

Fabrice Benard, Chief Executive Officer of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad and Country Head for Generali Entities in Malaysia said, "Every step counts, every cause matters. The Generali Malaysia Run 2024 truly embodies our Lifetime Partner commitment to making a tangible difference in society. Beyond promoting health and wellness, this event serves as a platform to address critical social issues. We are privileged to collaborate with our NGO partners to champion social inclusion, environmental preservation, and health risk prevention that would help foster a sustainable community."

In the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, the Generali Malaysia Run 2024 also celebrated the outstanding achievements of its participants across the 12km and 21.1km competitive categories.

Fabrice added, "As we congratulate the winners and celebrate the collective achievements of all participants, we are reminded of the transformative power of unity and purpose. We are truly humbled to receive strong support from all runners, customers, partners, and colleagues, who have given us to opportunity to bring positive changes to the community, without which Generali Malaysia Run 2024 would not be the event that it is today."

In an effort to engage runners who were not able to join the physical run, Generali had also introduced the virtual run format, allowing runners to be part of the movement and run anywhere, anytime. Virtual runners can choose to complete 6km, 12km, or 21.1km in one go or in multiple runs from 19th May 2024 until 19th June 2024. Upon completing the registered distance and submitting their run results, runners will receive their run entitlement which consists of a running t-shirt, finisher medal, and sponsored goodies 3 - 4 weeks after 19th June 2024.
