CYBERJAYA, May 31 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) proudly announces that its "Advocacy and Outreach Programme for Kampung Orang Asli Negeri Sembilan" has won the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2024 Champion in "Building Confidence and Security in the Use of ICTs" in Geneva, Switzerland. 

The WSIS Prizes 2024 Champion, held from May 27 to 31, 2024, honour outstanding projects worldwide that leverage the power of information and communication technology to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals. 

To mark the occasion's importance, esteemed attendees included YAB Dato' Seri Utama Aminuddin bin Harun, Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, YB Dato' Mohd Zafir bin Ibrahim, State Secretary Negeri Sembilan, YB Datuk Mohd Faizal bin Ramli Negeri Sembilan EXCO, Puan Shahrani Idderis, State Director JAKOA Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, Encik Hasan bin Sarat, Negeri Sembilan Representatives and other MCMC representatives. 

The award recognises MCMC's successful initiative to empower the indigenous Orang Asli communities in Negeri Sembilan by promoting sustainable practices through ICT. The project has significantly increased these communities' confidence in the safe use of ICT and enabled access to resources and opportunities. 

It is also a testament to MCMC's dedication to sustainability and digital inclusion. This recognition not only highlights MCMC's efforts, MCMC demonstrates a holistic approach that not only addresses the immediate needs of connectivity and digital literacy but also ensures long-term environmental and social benefits. 

The project garnered strong public support and was among the most voted in its category, reflecting widespread recognition and appreciation of MCMC's sustainability efforts. 

As MCMC advances its mission to enhance digitial literacy and security, it remains steadfast in using ICT to promote sustainable development, fostering a more inclusive, secure, and environmentally responsible digital future for all.
