PENANG, June 25 (Bernama) -- Northern Heart Hospital (NHH), the first and only cardiac and vascular specialist hospital in Penang and the Northern Region of Peninsular Malaysia, is proud to announce its soft opening. The
National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023 found that 6.7 million Malaysians (29.2 percent of the population) suffer from hypertension while more 7.5 million adults (33.3 percent of the population) have high cholesterol, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Heart disease is the number one cause of premature deaths¹ in the country, with 18.4% of medically certified deaths in 2022. According to the Statistics on Causes of Death Malaysia 2023 report, 95,266 deaths were recorded in 2022 within this age group.
