CHICAGO, USA, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Technology Depository Agency (TDA), an agency under the Ministry of Finance (MOF), was recently invited to present on the Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) at the Global Industrial Cooperation Association Autumn Conference (GICA Autumn 2024) held in Chicago, United States.

The three-day conference brought together government representatives and industry leaders from across the globe, providing a platform to share experiences, highlight achievements, and address challenges encountered during the implementation of ICP initiatives in various countries.

TDA, as the sole agency overseeing the Industrial Collaboration Programme in Malaysia, operates under the mandate of the Policies and Guidelines for the Implementation of Industry Collaboration Program in Government Procurement (PK 1.7). At the conference, TDA's CEO, Dr. Sharoul Jambari, emphasised the ICP's role as a strategic tool to support Malaysia’s national agenda. He stated that Malaysia’s successful ICP implementation has become a model for other nations.

Dr. Sharoul highlighted that ICP initiatives in Malaysia have secured total investments worth RM752.49 million. He elaborated, “There are several guidelines for identifying ICP projects, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are required to work closely with TDA to identify suitable initiatives.”

The conference marked a significant milestone for TDA as it continues to demonstrate the benefits of government-driven initiatives through strategic procurement.

The event also underscored TDA’s efforts to advance regional economic integration across industries. By showcasing its achievements and introducing the Outcome-Based Approach (OBA), TDA aims to further enhance the impact of ICPs for the nation. Looking ahead, TDA envisions fostering future collaborations, such as joint ventures, technology partnerships, and talent exchanges, to strengthen economic ties within ASEAN and globally.
