The Thirty-First ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat (31st AEM Retreat) will take place from 26 to 28 February 2025 at Desaru, Johor, Malaysia. This retreat serves as a key platform for ASEAN economic ministers to discuss and advance regional economic priorities.

As part of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Malaysia will lead ASEAN’s Economic Pillar, driving initiatives to enhance regional trade, investment, and economic integration.

1. Media Accreditation

Media accreditation is required for journalists, photographers, broadcasters, and Official Media (OM) from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and Timor-Leste covering the 31st AEM Retreat.

Accredited media representatives must have registered via the online registration portal, which was open from 10 to 20 February 2025 at https://aseanmalaysia2025.my/registermedia .

1.1 Registration Requirements

To complete the registration process, media representatives must provide:
 

-A valid press card.
 

-A letter of assignment endorsed by the respective media agency or office (for OM AMS)
 

1.3 Pass Collection

Media representatives who have registered to cover the 31st AEM Retreat will start collect their accreditation passes, at the following:

3. Accommodation

Accredited members of the media are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transportation. The organiser will not cover any expenses related to lodging, transportation, cancellation fees, or other services provided by hotels.
For convenience, the following hotels are located near the meeting venue:

Room reservations must be made directly with the respective hotels.

4. Dress Code

Accredited media representatives must wear proper business attire and shoes while covering all meetings during the Thirty-First ASEAN Economic Ministers' Retreat (31st AEM Retreat) and Related Meetings in Desaru, Johor Darul Ta’zim, Malaysia, from 26 to 28 February 2025.

Jeans are strictly not allowed at any official venue during the coverage period.

All media personnel must wear their accreditation passes at all times for security and identification purposes.

5. International Media Centre (IMC)

5.1 The International Media Centre (IMC) for the 31st AEM Retreat will be located at:
    * Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast, Desaru, Johor Darul Ta’zim, Malaysia
    * Operating Dates: 25-28 February 2025
    * Operating Hours: 0800 – 2000

6. Media Coverage

Media coverage is restricted, and a limited number of media passes will be issued to journalists, photographers, and cameramen permitted to cover selected meetings for a specified duration.

Official Media of ASEAN Member States (OM AMS) must register to cover the meetings.

Further details on media coverage, including access and schedules, will be provided in the Media Coverage Planner, available at the IMC.

7. Media Interviews

Accredited media representatives are permitted to interview delegates attending the 31st AEM Retreat. The Interview Request Form will be available at the IMC. Requests will be coordinated periodically by the Media Interview Representative. 

Media representatives may submit more than five (5) interview requests. Priority will be given to the top three (3) requests per applicant.
