The Thirty-First ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat (31st AEM Retreat) will take place from 26 to 28 February 2025 at Desaru, Johor, Malaysia. This retreat serves as a key platform for ASEAN economic ministers to discuss and advance regional economic priorities.
As part of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Malaysia will lead ASEAN’s Economic Pillar, driving initiatives to enhance regional trade, investment, and economic integration.
1. Media AccreditationMedia accreditation is required for journalists, photographers, broadcasters, and Official Media (OM) from ASEAN Member States (AMS) and Timor-Leste covering the 31st AEM Retreat.
Accredited media representatives must have registered via the online registration portal, which was open from 10 to 20 February 2025 at
https://aseanmalaysia2025.my/registermedia .

1.1 Registration RequirementsTo complete the registration process, media representatives must provide:
-A valid press card.
-A letter of assignment endorsed by the respective media agency or office (for OM AMS)

. The organiser will not cover any expenses related to lodging, transportation, cancellation fees, or other services provided by hotels.

6. Media CoverageMedia coverage is restricted
, and a limited number of media passes will be issued to journalists, photographers, and cameramen permitted to cover selected meetings for a specified duration.
Official Media of ASEAN Member States (OM AMS) must register to cover the meetings.

7. Media InterviewsAccredited media representatives are permitted to interview delegates attending the 31st AEM Retreat
. The Interview Request Form will be available at the IMC. Requests will be coordinated periodically by the Media Interview Representative.
Media representatives may submit more than five (5) interview requests. Priority will be given to the top three (3) requests per applicant.
