KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- Ahead of Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL Network (FDM) 2025, industry leaders gathered at Sofitel KL Damansara for a fireside chat.
 
Founded in 1964, the Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) Network, a prominent brand under Comexposium, is recognised as “The Global Food Marketplace”, dedicated to connecting the international food community.
 
YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation & Commodities, joined the event alongside and representatives from MATRADE, the Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB), and the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB).
 
Under the theme ‘Crafting Tomorrow’s F&B Landscape’, the fireside chat discussed how FDM 2025 offers unmatched networking, sourcing, and innovation opportunities. Moderated by Ibrahim Sani, the panel discussed trade fairs’ impact on R&D and innovation, market expansion, and sustainability.
 
· Henri Tan, Exhibition Director at Comexposium, noted that trade fairs like FDM 2025 boost business growth through networking and innovation.
· Amnah Shaari, Group CEO of Serunai Commerce, explained that halal certification opens new markets, fosters innovation, and builds consumer trust.
· Melissa Ong, Group CEO of Impact Circle, emphasized the need for sustainability in the F&B industry, with agri-tech innovations creating a resilient food system.
· KK Yau, Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia (GCCM), mentioned that FDM 2025 allows chefs and food entrepreneurs to showcase their expertise and adopt sustainable practices.
 
FDM 2025 will connect thousands of SEA professionals, fostering partnerships, product discoveries, and market insights. Digitalisation, sustainability, and AI are reshaping trade fairs, linking local producers with global buyers.
 
Reaffirming its commitment to industry growth, Comexposium signed partnership agreements with MPIB to promote Malaysian pineapple globally and aT Korea to enhance agro-food trade between Malaysia and Korea.
 
A major highlight of FDM 2025 is the debut of the exclusive Chocolate Show, referenced by the renowned Salon du Chocolat, the world’s leading chocolate event. This platform will bring together industry experts and enthusiasts to explore innovations and trends in the chocolate sector. Additionally, the 4th GCCM is set to double in size, attracting top culinary talent. New exhibitors from Canada and Poland further cement FDM 2025’s status as Southeast Asia’s premier trade fair.
