ASEAN 2025 MEDIA HANDOUT: 25 May – 29th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting

Sunday 25/05/2025

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Following the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) held earlier in the day, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan chaired the 29th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, one of several ministerial-level engagements leading up to the 46th ASEAN Summit.

In the meeting, Foreign Ministers of ASEAN and Timor-Leste exchanged views on recent developments within the Sectoral Bodies under the APSC Pillar and took note of the current implementation rate of the APSC Blueprint 2025, which stands at 99.6%. The Blueprint continues to serve as a vital framework for strengthening ASEAN’s political-security architecture, promoting greater cohesion, and building strategic trust across the region.

The Ministers also reviewed ongoing efforts related to the implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025 and discussed preparations for its End-Term Review. The Review is expected to inform ASEAN’s strategic direction as the region transitions into a new phase of cooperation under the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

Looking ahead, ASEAN remains committed to advancing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and finalising the next APSC Strategic Plan, which will chart a pragmatic and forward-looking path for ASEAN’s role in both regional and global affairs.
