“At Energy Asia, we stand firm that this is the age of Asia. At Energy Asia, we believe that there is no net zero without Asia achieving net zero. And at Energy Asia, we welcome all of you to help in Delivering Asia’s Energy Transition,” said Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and Group CEO of PETRONAS and Chairman of Energy Asia, at the Energy Asia 2025.”

KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) -- Energy Asia opened today with a powerful call for bold and unified actionable solutions to advance Asia’s transition towards net zero. Hosted by PETRONAS and Knowledge Partner, CERAWeek by S&P Global, the Conference gathers 38 industries from across more than 60 countries under the theme ‘Delivering Asia’s Energy Transition,’ at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Officiated by the Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Energy Asia is set against the backdrop of rising urgency and solidarity, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and energy professionals to align strategies and pragmatic solutions that meet the unique challenges and opportunities of developing and emerging economies.

Reaffirming Energy Asia’s aspirations in advancing solutions through collaboration, Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and Group CEO of PETRONAS, and Chairman of Energy Asia said during his opening address, “At Energy Asia, we stand firm that energy security and climate actions are not competing priorities but complementary agendas. As this region’s energy demand is set to nearly double by 2050, we will need no less than the entire energy ecosystem to come together with synchronised and aligned efforts for a just and equitable transition where no community is left behind. This year, our Conference has convened a diverse group of leaders and experts from oil, gas and energy, power and utilities, finance and logistics, technology and government to work together to effect a systemic transformation of the entire energy ecosystem.”

A central highlight of the Conference was the inaugural Energy Asia Global Leadership Executive Forum, an exclusive convening of over 30 global CEOs and C-suite across oil and gas, energy, renewables, power, utility, technology and finance. This closed-door dialogue focused on forging concrete strategies and actions to shape Asia’s energy transition.

Held under Chatham House Rule, the Forum saw industry leaders outline four key areas of collaboration with which they will align their efforts, namely:

1.               Sharing of best practices and experience across companies on how to create resilient energy systems while adapting relevant strategies within each organisations’s own context.
2.               Collaboration among energy companies and investors to propose actions to improve project bankability and build investor confidence in financing energy transition projects.
3.               Sharing of best practices on reducing emissions, delivering positive social impact and effectively communicating sustainability efforts to stakeholders. Each organisation may align these practices within its operational realities, sectoral priorities and stakeholder expectations.
4.               Collaboration on innovation by sharing expertise and advancing energy transition projects with each organisation adopting relevant solutions to accelerate decarbonisation within their own business environment.

The findings of the Forum are important early markers of collective intent upon which the industry and global community can develop deeper partnerships, scale solutions, and move beyond ambition into coordinated execution to catalyse real change across organisations and ecosystems.

Energy Asia is set to showcase more than 180 globally renowned speakers which include His Excellency Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General, Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries; Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman of the Board and CEO, TotalEnergies; and Meg O’Neill, CEO & Managing Director, Woodside Energy.

Through more than 50 strategic dialogues spanning seven sub-themes, the Conference will examine the collaborative efforts across Asian nations that can enhance energy security, promote renewable energy adoption, deploy decarbonisation solutions, facilitate technology transfer and catalyse economic and socio-economic development.

Meanwhile, the Energy Park, serves as the centre of technology and innovation programming and will showcase transformational technology platforms in energy and adjacent industries.

The Energy Asia Awards, which honour exemplary leadership and impact in the energy transition; and Future Energy Leaders, which recognise emerging talents shaping the energy landscape was also introduced as part of the Conference programme this year.
