JPG STRENGTHENS STATE COLLABORATION TO ADVANCE JOHOR’S SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL INDUSTRY

MoU with YPJP and PIJH aims to drive productivity, digitalisation and RSPO-certified sourcing

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- Johor Plantations Group Berhad (JPG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with YPJ Plantations Sdn Bhd (YPJP) and PIJ Holdings Sdn Bhd (PIJH), two Johor State Government-linked companies, to enhance cooperation and drive transformation across the palm oil sector in Johor.

The collaboration covers a combined hectarage of approximate 13,202 hectares under YPJP and PIJH, will focus on enhancing plantation productivity through initiatives such as the procurement and processing of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), sustainability advisory services with an emphasis on Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification, and the adoption of digital technologies, agronomic practices and mechanisation. Additionally, the partners will explore centralised procurement for essential inputs including fertilisers and implement training and upskilling programmes for plantation workers to build capacity and support long-term growth.

“These MoUs reflect our shared responsibility to build an inclusive and resilient agribusiness ecosystem, particularly in the palm oil industry. The collaboration between JPG, YPJP and PIJH not only strengthens corporate growth but also supports Johor’s priorities in sustainability, digitalisation and human capital development. Moreover, with a strong focus on TVET and workforce upskilling, the spillover effects of this partnership will create quality job opportunities for our youth, while advancing Johor’s Green Deal agenda and positioning the state as a leader in sustainable agribusiness,” said YB Dato’ Zahari Sarip, Chairman of the Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee, who represented  YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor at the signing.

YPJ Plantations is a Johor State Government-linked company held through Yayasan Pelajaran Johor. The company is engaged in the palm oil trading and related products. PIJ Holdings is a Johor State Government-owned company incorporated under Perbadanan Islam Johor, involved in diverse business sectors including property development, real estate management, plantation, manufacturing, utilities, and infrastructure, and halal industry development.
