KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- UOB Malaysia today announced the newly rebranded Bandaraya – UOB LRT Station, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to building a greener, more connected Kuala Lumpur. This station branding initiative reflects UOB’s progressive vision of integrating sustainability with urban mobility, while enhancing everyday connectivity for the city’s growing population.

With over one million commuters passing through weekly, Bandaraya – UOB LRT Station is a vital interchange hub that provides convenient access to one of Kuala Lumpur’s busiest commercial districts.

The station’s unveiling was marked by a launch ceremony officiated by YB Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport. Also present were YBhg. Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah binti Mohd Sharif, Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur; Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Group CEO of UOB; Ms Ng Wei Wei, CEO of UOB Malaysia; Encik Amir Hamdan, President and Group CEO of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad; Encik Syed Redza Algadrie, CEO of Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE) and Encik Nor Azmi Mohd Yusof, Acting CEO of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd.

YB Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport, said, “I commend UOB Malaysia for supporting the government’s Station Branding Rights programme. The rebranding of this station is a testament to the positive outcomes that public-private partnerships can achieve for the rakyat, maximising resources and enhancing service delivery through close collaboration. The Bank’s proactive involvement also reflects a strong sense of ownership and commitment to uplifting Kuala Lumpur’s public transport landscape.”

Ms Ng Wei Wei, Chief Executive Officer, UOB Malaysia, said, “The branding of Bandaraya – UOB LRT Station is more than a symbolic gesture, it represents our deep roots in this area where Menara UOB has stood since 1984. With our new headquarters, UOB Plaza 1 KL, just steps away, this initiative enables us to deepen community engagement, contribute to the city’s urban experience, and help advance public transportation to ease urban congestion and promote sustainability.”

Encik Syed Redza Algadrie, CEO of PRIDE, said, “We are honoured to welcome UOB Malaysia as a partner in our Station Branding Rights initiative. Beyond a naming exercise, station branding is a catalyst for placemaking and civic pride, transforming transit hubs into landmarks that reflect the identity of the city. With UOB Malaysia’s presence at Bandaraya – UOB LRT Station, we are enhancing the commuter experience, unlocking the value of our transit assets, and reinvesting into a more vibrant, connected Kuala Lumpur.”

The rebranded Bandaraya – UOB LRT station connects to both the Ampang (Ampang – Sentul Timur) and Sri Petaling LRT Line (Sri Petaling – Sentul Timur) and integrates to the Kelana Jaya LRT Line via Masjid Jamek station. It also serves as an interchange station to the Bank Negara KTM Komuter Station, connecting daily commuters to both the Rawang – Seremban and Sentul – Port Klang KTM Lines. The station is also close to several Kuala Lumpur landmarks including Bank Negara Malaysia, Bangunan KWSP, Kompleks Pertama, Menara DBKL, Menara MARA, and SOGO KL.
