SELANGOR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- A new chapter in Malaysia’s creative landscape is being written, by youths who were once told they couldn’t. The heart-warming animation series “Fun With Idioms by Coco & Momo”, created entirely by Special Needs youths from Infinite Minds Academy, is now featured on MyTV, YouTube, and Durioo+.
The project celebrates the limitless creativity of Neurodiverse individuals (including those with Autism, Dyslexia, Down Syndrome, and other Learning Difficulties), blending humour, heart, and education to teach English idioms in engaging, relatable ways. More than just an animation, it’s a movement that showcases inclusion, diversity, and empowerment in action.
Empowering Neurodiverse Creators Through Digital Skills
The success of Fun With Idioms by Coco & Momo reflects over a decade of dedication by Infinite Minds Academy, Malaysia’s pioneering digital technology academy for Special Needs individuals. Founded by Ms. Kiren Kaur in 2013, the academy equips Neurodiverse youths with real-world digital skills in animation, multimedia design, app development, robotics, and virtual reality, enabling them to earn, create, and live with dignity.
“Since the whole world is moving towards digitalisation, why should they be left behind?”
— Ms. Kiren Kaur, Founder, Infinite Minds Academy
This milestone was made possible through the strong encouragement and collaboration of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), whose ongoing efforts to promote inclusive digital participation have paved the way for more Malaysians, including those from marginalised groups to thrive in the digital economy. Their support underscores a shared belief that innovation and inclusivity must grow hand in hand.
Beamworks Studio — Where Passion Becomes Profession
To ensure long-term sustainability, Infinite Minds established its own in-house studio, Beamworks, operated by Neurodiverse youths under the mentorship of professionals. Beamworks undertakes corporate videos, commercials, animation development, and design of physical corporate gifts; giving the youths professional exposure, paid opportunities, and confidence to excel in mainstream industries.
The studio exemplifies dignified employment through diversity, challenging societal perceptions and proving that individuals with learning differences can contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s creative economy.
Partnering for the “S” in ESG
Infinite Minds Academy extends its gratitude to corporate partners who have supported and collaborated with both Beamworks and the academy. As more companies embrace Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, Infinite Minds continues to highlight the vital importance of the “S” — Social component.
While many organisations focus on “E” - Environmental goals, empowering people and promoting inclusion are equally crucial.
Encouragingly, more Malaysian corporations are stepping forward to work with Infinite Minds Academy, recognising that supporting the Neurodiverse community is not charity, it is social impact with purpose.
Hope Beyond Barriers
For many parents, this is a symbol of hope. It reminds them that their children, too, can thrive in the digital age, turning their unique perspectives into strengths. Neurodiverse individuals often have a natural affinity for technology, and when given the right guidance and trust, they don’t just adapt, they excel!
Through patience, opportunity, and belief, Infinite Minds Academy continues to prove that inclusion works, and when empowered, the Neurodiverse community can help shape a more creative, compassionate, and equitable future.
