KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- redONE Mobile, a community telco, through its charitable arm Yayasan redONE, continued its commitment to community care with a volunteer-led outreach initiative carried out in collaboration with Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) recently, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and members of the urban poor across Kuala Lumpur.
Bringing together a team of 20 volunteers, the initiative focused on delivering food and support to underserved communities in the city. The volunteers were organised into five teams and deployed to Dang Wangi, Brickfields, Tun Perak, Pudu, and Petaling Street, where they collectively distributed more than 230 food packs to individuals who rely on such outreach efforts for daily sustenance.
Working closely with Kechara Soup Kitchen, the teams ensured food packs were prepared and distributed in an orderly and timely manner before setting out along their assigned routes. Throughout the activity, volunteers engaged directly with community members, witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by those living in vulnerable circumstances within the urban landscape.
This activity reflects redONE Mobile’s continued focus on corporate social responsibility, extending its role beyond connectivity to active community engagement. By encouraging employee participation in ground-level initiatives, the company seeks to create positive social impact while cultivating compassion and social consciousness within its workforce.
"We are honoured to once again partner with Kechara Soup Kitchen, building on our previous collaboration and grateful for the opportunity to work together again. As a community-focused telco, redONE Mobile is committed to supporting the communities we serve—not only through connectivity, but through meaningful action. We are proud to contribute alongside our partners in extending care, compassion, and hope to those in need,” said Ameen Amaendran, Chief Executive Officer of redONE Mobile.
Kechara Soup Kitchen Society has been serving marginalised communities in Malaysia for over 17 years, including individuals experiencing homelessness, the urban poor, and Orang Asli communities. Through its various food distribution and empowerment programmes, KSK continues to address immediate needs while working towards longer-term support for vulnerable populations.
