KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- AmBank Group has been named Malaysia’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, recognising the Group’s commitment to driving sustainable and inclusive growth by empowering communities, supporting underserved groups and championing environmental stewardship across Malaysia.

The award recognises the Bank’s holistic approach via its AmGroup Foundation to community empowerment, anchored by its sustainability agenda and Winning Together 2029 (WT29) strategy. Rather than viewing community investment as separate from its business, AmBank integrates responsible banking with programmes and partnerships designed to create meaningful, measurable and long-term impact.

In the last financial year alone, the Bank, through its AmGroup Foundation has contributed more than RM2 million in community programmes, reaching close to 30,000 beneficiaries through more than 150 initiatives nationwide. These efforts covered youth development, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation and community welfare.

AmBank’s Community Empowerment Framework focuses on five key pillars: protecting the environment and endangered species; empowering B40 economic participation; strengthening partnerships with schools and local universities; fighting hunger through humanitarian aid; and supporting people with disabilities and critical illnesses.

“This recognition from Euromoney is an honour for the AmBank Group. Our Winning Together purpose extends beyond our customers and shareholders to include the communities we lift along the way. This recognition belongs to all AmBankers who made it possible,” said Jamie Ling, Group Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Group.

“The AmGroup Foundation’s commitment is to make a tangible difference where it matters most. From empowering underserved communities to protecting our environment, we are focused on initiatives that are purposeful, measurable and sustainable. This award reinforces that corporate responsibility is not an add-on at AmBank, it is embedded in how we operate and how we define progress,” added Shazman Shahid, Head of Group Corporate Communications & Marketing, AmBank Group, who also oversees AmGroup Foundation.

Employee volunteerism further amplifies the Bank’s community outreach and impact. AmBank Volunteer Network (AVN) is a unique platform that brings together AmBank staff who are passionate about giving back to the community. With more than 4,500 active volunteers nationwide, AVN serves as a strong foundation for its employee volunteering efforts and enables our people to actively support and contribute to the Bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Through AVN, the Bank has expanded its outreach towards sustainable, long-term projects and partnerships that create meaningful and measurable outcomes over time. These initiatives span areas such as environmental sustainability, community and capital development, and student achievements, allowing the Bank and AmGroup Foundation to go beyond one-off activities and build lasting impact for the communities.

In FY2026, AmBank employees contributed more than 12,000 volunteer hours, supporting the Group’s ambition to achieve 50,000 cumulative volunteer hours by FY2029. The Group also encourages volunteerism through AmCare, which provides employees with three days of paid leave annually to participate in charitable and sustainability-related activities.

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), AmBank works closely with NGOs, government agencies, local stakeholders and community leaders to identify needs and develop initiatives that deliver sustainable outcomes.

The recognition underscores AmBank Group’s continued commitment to Winning Together - with customers, communities, employees and the nation -to build a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable Malaysia.
