KUANTAN, Malaysia, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. (BPC) and Green Growth Asia Foundation (GGAF) successfully hosted the 3rd Eco-Schools Green Science & Technology Carnival, bringing together more than 1,300 students from 25 schools nationwide in a celebration of sustainability, innovation and STEM learning.

Held at SM Teknik Kuantan with the support of the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the carnival marked the finale of the Green Innovation Science Project (GISPRO) 2026, one of Malaysia's leading student platforms for environmental innovation. A total of 92 schools submitted 180 project videos nationwide in developing practical solutions to environmental challenges.

A Growing Movement for Sustainability

GISPRO 2026 achieved its highest participation to date, reflecting the growing enthusiasm among young Malaysians to apply science and technology in addressing sustainability challenges. Finalists presented their innovations before a panel of judges from academia, industry and environmental organisations, while volunteers from BPC and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) conducted hands-on STEM activities and sustainabilityfocused experiential learning sessions through its interactive exhibitions, exposing the 1,300 students to university and industrial level research and innovation.

Jasmi Bin Md Isa, Deputy Director, Planning and Research Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia highlighted the importance of partnerships that strengthen STEM education and environmental awareness among students.

These experiences help prepare the next generation for the opportunities and challenges of the future."

Now in its third year, the Eco-Schools Green Science & Technology Carnival continues to demonstrate the collective commitment of BASF PETRONAS Chemicals, Green Growth Asia Foundation, UMPSA and educational partners to nurture future-ready talent through sustainability education and experiential STEM learning.

By connecting students with industry professionals, academics and sustainability advocates, the programme continues to inspire young Malaysians to innovate, lead and contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
