KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Maybank recently organised the Maybank Group Sustainability Week (MGSW) 2026, a three-day programme held from 21 to 23 September 2026 at Menara Merdeka Maybank. Under the theme “Net Zero. From Commitment to Action”, MGSW 2026 focuses on advancing Maybank’s net zero journey through capacity building, sustainability awareness and capabilities, in line with the Group’s ROAR30 sustainability ambitions.
 
MGSW 2026 saw Maybankers across the Group participate in two key events; ‘Net Zero Week’, the ‘Maybank Sustainability Practitioner Certification (MSPC) Open Day’ and ‘Grand Conferment Ceremony’, celebrating over 1,000 certified sustainability practitioners.
 
The event was attended by Dato' Sri Khairussaleh Ramli, President & Group CEO Maybank, Datuk Shahril Azuar Jimin, Group Chief Sustainability Officer Maybank, Board of Directors and Group EXCO members of Maybank, Dato’ Ir. Ts. (Dr.) Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, CEO PNB Merdeka Ventures, Muazzam Mohamad, Head of Corporate Sustainability & Stewardship PNB, Leo Pui Yong, Chief Sustainability Officer Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Edey Suresh Kumar Manikam, Board Director at Large UN Global Compact Network Malaysia, Brunei & Cambodia (UNGCMBC).
 
Dato' Sri Khairussaleh Ramli said “MGSW 2026 reflects our continued focus on enabling our people to support our customers' transition journeys to net zero through stronger knowledge and mindsets. Ultimately, our commitment to capacity building will in turn help our customers transition responsibly and sustainably, strengthen our communities and drive meaningful sustainability impact.”
 
A key highlight of MGSW 2026 was the MSPC Grand Conferment Ceremony, which honoured 36 MSPC Level 3 Red Belt graduates. Developed with UNGCMBC, the MSPC programme was introduced in 2023 to build a future-ready sustainability workforce. Through its four-tier certification pathway, the programme equips Maybankers to drive sustainability initiatives.
 
Since its inception, MSPC has grown across more than 60 cohorts and expanded beyond Malaysia to Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia. The programme has now enrolled over 2,300 participants and certified 1,755 practitioners. As a pioneering and a first of its kind initiative in the industry, MSPC is a sustainability capability programme built on a structured belting system.
 
MGSW 2026 also saw the launch of the ‘Plastic Bottle Recycling’ initiative, where plastic bottle recycling bins will be deployed across Menara Merdeka Maybank to encourage environmental responsibility. 
 
A series of expert-led discussions, workshops and sharing sessions covered topics such as “Talk to Traction: Solving the Net Zero Equation Across Sustainability, Business and Law.”, and more.
