Eligible Malaysians can now apply for short-term financing through the Skyro app, with upfront and transparent loan terms clearly stated in the borrowing process

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Skyro, a high-growth digital finance group, has launched its first credit product in Malaysia, offering eligible consumers a digital way to access short-term financing for everyday financial needs, from home repairs and essential purchases to unexpected expenses.

Available through the Skyro mobile app, the cash loan allows Malaysians to apply for financing of up to RM1,000 on the first loan, subject to approval, with a four-month repayment tenure. The application process is entirely digital, from identity verification and credit assessment to loan approval and disbursement, without the need to visit a physical branch. The company intends to progressively increase borrowing limits as it builds relationships with customers, with a longer-term goal of offering loans of up to RM10,000.

The launch follows Skyro's announcement in September 2026 that it had secured regulatory approval from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) to provide online moneylending services in Malaysia. Building on its experience in the Philippines, Malaysia marks Skyro's second Southeast Asian market.

Making borrowing simpler, with transparency at every step
Eligible Malaysian citizens with a valid MyKad and regular income can apply through the Skyro app by completing identity verification and submitting supporting income documents. Applications are assessed individually based on customers' income, existing financial commitments and credit history, with most applicants receiving a decision within minutes.

Before accepting a loan, customers can review their approved amount, monthly instalments, total repayment obligation and applicable fees. The cash loan currently carries a fixed interest rate of 1.5% per month, with customers also required to complete credit-education videos before electronically signing their agreement. Once approved and signed, funds are transferred to the customer's nominated account, with disbursement times depending on the receiving bank.

Arsen Liametov, Co-founder & Co-CEO of Skyro, said:
"For many people, financial needs don't always arrive at a convenient time. Whether it's a home repair or an unexpected expense, we want Malaysians to have another option to consider when they need short-term financing. But making credit available is only one part of it. It's equally important that customers understand what they're borrowing, what it will cost and how they'll repay it before making that decision."

Building a broader financial offering for Malaysia
The cash loan marks the first step in Skyro's plans to expand its financial services offering in Malaysia. Skyro is also targeting the introduction of a set credit limit by the end of 2026, as part of its plans to expand financing options for Malaysian consumers.

Arsen added: "Our ambition in Malaysia goes beyond launching a single lending product. We're starting with cash loans to better understand the needs of Malaysian consumers and how they use credit. As we build that understanding, we want to introduce more flexible financing options that can support customers as their needs evolve."

The Skyro app is available on Google Play, with Apple App Store availability coming soon. For more information, visit https://www.skyro.io/en-my.
